If you could change one thing about VF, or any fighting game, what would it be?

Got an idea for a better move? Got a cool idea for a new fighter? Got a better plot concept? If you could be in charge of creating the next game of the series, how would you want it done?

I have nothing against anyone who wants to voice an opinion on where VF needs work...

But if anyone has ideas for a new fighter, or wants to suggest changes for other fighting games besides VF, kindly do <font color="red">NOT</font color> post them here. Virtuafighter.com isn't really for discussing other fighting games, unless you want to discuss them in the general board.

 

Make a real martial arts fighting game. There are no floats in real life. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

 

1) make it free to play in the arcades
2) actually have vf in arcades (in america)

 

Shadowdeans comment was very clever. Gamesmasters is just too short-sighted -- CHANGE ALL THE VOICES.

 

Hmm maybe better voice acters for LION (I hate to see my guy sounding like mickey mouse) and jacky (I hate to see this guy)

Also I would appreciate subtitles for the victory poses etc

last but not least endings for christs sake!

 

I agree on the list you made, but i would also add more voice when a charecter gets hit or performs a move (Like a scream, or a cry etc) i realy hate hearing "Yeah" all the time from Jacky.

 

I have really no idea how to make the gameplay better, apart from making the characters even more individual in their styles//tactics while keeping the game balanced.

The presentation could get worked on. Voices in particular.
Have all characters speak in their native language. Why would Shun, Lau, and Pai speak Japanese for example? Get voice actors from that actually are from those countries to make it sound correct. French speaking Lion, Italian Brad, Jeffry with an Aussie accent /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif
I like the subtitles idea as well. Works fine in DoA and Soul Calibur.

 

There are more vocals in evo. The stomach crumble sound is different, and some characters let out a yelp when certain moves are done. IE, Vanessa's 270 throws, and when Aoi's + successfully sabakis.

 

Do charecters yelp when damage is recieved ?

Has jackey learnt any new vocabulary (Other than "Yeah" and "Haa")

The one thing I would change is the same thing I would change about ANY fighting game - more gore. Period. Since MK, no other fighting game has allowed for brutal death or dismemberment, and I just don't get it. I mean, you're depicting violence in the first place, so why not step it up and make it more interesting? Anyway, until the other games add some brutality, there will be only one fighting game that maintains my interest... http://www.mortalkombat.midway.com/

The culmination of all your posts pretty much translates into you asking "If you could make Virtua Fighter just like MK, how would you do it?" ...spare us.

There are some moves. The main one is the stomach crumble. Pai & Aoi both let out a little cat-like whimper on a few moves -- like Vaness's 270's I mentioned.

I *THINK* but can't recall that if you successfully sabaki w/ Aoi's + then they've got a different sound (Aoi does, but it's hard to hear what she's saying).

I don't use Jacky, and can't recall if his vocab has grown. I tend to think not.

Lion has new verbals for both new throws. + = Take that. + = (hya hya hya hya hya hya HYA!)

 

Or hey, why even stop there. I mean, when you think about it, female fighting game characters tend to emphasize what could be considered anti-rape techniques (lots of reversals & kicks) and so maybe in MK6 or something we'll get to see Rape-alities. Screw it, why stop there. When your white character subdues a black character you might have the option of chaining them and selling to the highest bidder...Slave-alities. I could go on.
