1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Hi folks, I'm a noob to any of the Virtua Fighter games and I recently bought 4. I'm wondering who should I start out with? I hope to eventually master most of the characters, and eventually beat Kumite mode. I figured you guys would be the people to ask, because only Virtua Fighter fanatics would come here. Does Tekken have a site like this? Well, I bought this game, because I heard it was the best fighting game for Playstation 2, and so now I need to know who I should use. I'm sure you guys can help.

Hey there. Choosing a character is really just picking one that suits your playing style, as balance isn't so much a problem. To give you an idea of how each character plays:

Akira: Hard-hitter, large damage combos but difficult moves to execute.
Pai: Fast, fairly easy to use, good variety.
Lau: Hard hitter, easier for [P],[P],[P] style players, not bad for beginners.
Wolf: Throw based character, heavy weight, slightly slower.
Jeffry: Throw based, heavy weight, medium/hard hitter.
    Kage: Fast, all-rounder.
    Sarah: Mostly kick-based, fast.
Jacky: Easy beginner character, easy for [P],[P],[P] style players.
Shun: Deceptive, hard to master character.
Lion: Poking character, all-rounder, guessing game style play.
Aoi: Throw based character, ultra light weight, fast, deceptive.
Lei-Fei: All-rounder, good beginner character also has fair emount of depth.
Vanessa: Hard to master, huge move list, arguably least used character (still very good though).

Two things to help you master the VF fighting system: Complete the Trial training mode, as it explains a large amount of how the system works. Have a look through GLC's general guide: http://virtuafighter.com/view.php?section=vf4&file=vf4_general_guide_glc.txt.
Also have a search through the forums as there is alot out there to help the newbies.

I'd say go with Kage or Pai.

I recommend you to choose Jacky.

He is fast, and the commands are easy to input.
