1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

I'm good at 3D and suck at 2D - how about you?

See I picked up Street Fighter IV up last week. Yes I know that this is a Virtua Fighter site and I shouldn't be talking about Street Fighter IV so please don't kill me for it. The reason I'm writing this is because I can't play Street Fighter for crap. I'm so much better at Virtua Fighter and 3D fighters in general. I don't know what it is but once I go to 2D I get my ass kicked. Am I the only one that's like that or are there other players like me?

don't worry, everyone here talks about sfiv now.

personally, i'm better at 2d fighters, but that's only because they share more common ground between each other than 3d fighters (and there's way more of them).

for what it's worth, i think vf is way more fun than any other fighter, 2d or otherwise.

I'm guessing the OP has played more 3d fighting games than he has 2d ones.

I get my ass kicked at any fighting game apart from VF, but if I didn't spend so much time on VF and spent time on other fighting games instead then i'm guessing it would be different.

Personally I get my ass kicked in both 2d and 3d, but I do prefer getting my ass kicked in 3d overall.

I played 2D before 3D but I'm average at all of them.

I hit a wall and never break through it.

I bought UMK3 on XBL and never managed to beat it on the easiest difficulty despite previously owning it on SNES and Genesis. I guess that qualifies me as pretty terrible at 2D.

CPU be reading inputs. VF quest mode is the only single player AI that I've played that's cool to play against and works.

i hate when cpu read inputs. I understand it's a lot easier to program than a thinking computer though.

For me it depends on the game. I've had more success in 3D fighters for the most part. VF, Tekken, Calibur, all that shit.
In 2D departament I can't get beyond a certain point in games like GG or SF (which I really like as a series, 2nd, 3rd, Alpha series, even EX!), but I managed to do it in SNK's KOF. Still, there's just this huge gap between what I can do in 3D fighters compared to 2D ones.

I havent gotten past the extreme scrub level in any 2D game before now. My analytical style that tries to test things so I may learn something also ensures I lose my first 12318273183 matches before I start to win and I usually gave those games up when playing too much against people who know something.

Im currently trying to learn SF4 as starting from roughly same line as everyone else gives me more motivation, also I have actually managed to do some stuff in it. I wouldnt say that its casual friendly but there are certain things that feel easier to perform and success gives me energy to continue.

I suck @ both. But I'm struggling with SF4 haha... I can beat most scrubs now but some very bad players get me with awful setups. I fail almost all the combos, I'm falling in a lot of crappy traps, well... I'll see how I am in 2 or 3 more thousand games

Atm I'm on Boxer, so I push scrubs in the corner and bullrush em till they die /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
Just let them whiff the dragon punch on wake up and punish, rinse & repeat
I like dictator too but he's harder than boxer. Boxer is a noob friendly char, lot of life, fast, hits hard, not so hard combos, and ultra easy comboable.

Better at 2D since I play them more. Average at 3D fighters

Im terrible at 2d. I really tried playing Guilty Gear for like 2 months, but I just couldn't wrap my head around some of the advanced concepts. SF4 just isn't my thing. I think I could be good at it, at some point, but I can't keep myself motivated to keep playing it.

Killzone 2 comes out tomorrow anyway...
