Importing VF4:evo tonight, really a beginner, tips?

I've played all the VF's enough to know I don't know anything about them. I barely touched VF4, not because I didn't like it, I didn't have the time. Now, I have a Japanese PS2 and I'm planning on buying VF4 Evo tonight.

I figure I'm going to work with Goh, as he looks to have a great fighting style. I was wondering if anyone could offer any tipe for him, or just a beginner in general? Thank you.

hey, I'm just finishing up a goh guide, but a lot of it depends on previous game knowledge.

The PS2 training mode (trial training) is really really good, it actually teaches you the stuff that's important in this game and how to do it correctly. Go through that with goh and you'll be 10x better just to start.

After that, read some of the general VF4 guides on this site, like systems faqs, notation stuff, etc. Also keep in mind there are two or three versions of VF4 still being discussed on this site - you have Evo version B, there's some Evo version A info out there and a ton of VF4 version C info out there (that's before Evo). The difference between version C and evo is huge.

If you're just starting out trying to learn the game seriously, I probably wouldn't start with Goh. He is fun to play but not very user friendly IMO. Try him out but if you have trouble winning, then you should probably try one of the old stand bys like Jacky to get a better feel for the game. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Thanks for the info, guys. I actually am loving using Brad all of all people. He's simple enough for me to get into as a rookie, but I bet he's got a lot of potential. Goh is just over my head. The game is amazing by the way, everything I wanted VF4 to be.
