Increased damage when opp. is techrolling

    I'm talking about Akira's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif combo. Doing it on NH without the opponent doing exact recovery (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif) it gives around 72 damage. But if the opponent does exact recovery the combo grants 77 damage (even if he's rolling to either side).

    Does this happen with other combos too?

    Additional information: I only tried it on Lau (closed stance) in Dojo. The combo works on Eileen, Sarah, and some other characters too, but i don't know if the increased damage also happens on these characters.

    Edit: Sorry if it was not exactly clear what i meant.

    Normal techroll or exact recovery?

    Normal techroll screw damages for near ground hits in juggles.

    Apparently there is a penalty for mashing exact recovery inputs (essentially what the CPU does when you set it to recover from falls) and that is what you are seeing when you get goofy damage numbers.

    You can learn/find the combo with recovery ON then check the damage for the combo with recovery OFF.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif doesn't float as high in Ver B, so maybe you're getting a slam with the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif?

    The damage variance you've noticed is explained in VF5 System Tidbits, under the section titled "Don't Ukemi Too Early!".

    One of my replies in this thread contains a detailed example of this in effect.

    Personally i'm still a bit confused though.

    DS /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif normal hit > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif gives me more damage sometimes - does this happen because with exact timing wolf is considered airborne? or is it because the AI is trying to perform exact recovery and getting hit thus resulting in more damage? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

    I did this combo against Wolf with no recovery, fall recovery and fall recovery (exact), and each time got 52 points. I'm not sure what you're seeing, but I'm pretty sure everything should be explained in the links I provided earlier.

    When i set the CPU to neutral i get 58 damage though, only getting the original 52 damage if i slightly delay the followup float /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

    I tried to point out earlier that this is probably from the opponent hitting the floor to early in the combo, words failed me as per usual.

    Like when you are doing a non reliable combo or you mistime your inputs, sometimes the opponent hits the floor to early and this can make the damage vary as a result.

    Is it possibly this causing the difference in damage you guys are experiencing?
