Hi everyone! One thing I've felt for a bit of time now is about Mortal Kombat's violence. Is it overdone? Are they trying to hard to be violent? I would like to discuss this.

I may have liked your comment because this is a good topic, but I 110% disagree with you. I hate censorship, so I'll defend the right for mortal Kombat to exist. I already hate the fact that Japan bans MK for excessive violence since in 2005 some clown murdered a person (that person had medical issues).

Nevertheless, obviously not all gratuitous violence is equally as artful, yet I'll defend the lame ones in order to make sure censorship free art is possible.

My Summary: Mortal Kombat's Violence is a hilarious joke, if you find it funny - you find it funny, else it's unfortunate and not your cup of tea (I respect that everything is not for everyone).

Personally, I would like to get into the upcoming MK1 because of its gameplay and possibly great story. The only problem is that I feel physically uncomfortable around the violence which would genuinely prevent me from playing it. I honestly feel that at least some of MK's violence is overdone just for the sake of it. That's my opinion, but I feel there is at least some truth to that.

Yeah, it is a bit overdone.
I like how silly the fatalities looked in MK 1, 2, 3, and 4. Those fatalities looked MK'ish. But from what I've heard, Ed Boon is a gore fest bro.:p

You know the biggest reason "mortal Kombat Vs DC universe" was the weakest game in the mk franchise is obvious. The lack of the gratuitous over the top violence.

I respect how you feel but you are in the minority because MK is bizarrely the best selling fighting game franchise lel let that sink in.

That's a really good point. Personally, I don't want MK to remove its violence or censor it completely. Instead, I would like for it to give an option to remove it. Just an option. The first MK game's genesis version actually had such an option and it feels so much more welcome for players like me who struggle to deal with that violence.

You might get your wish since YouTubers are struggling to cover MK since the new gore censorship monetisation rules came into place. Mk YouTubers are sure to complain that they can't pay the bills with AdSense penalising gaming violence of any kind.

I would happily play MK1 with an option to censor the violence. But as is, I really can't. Some people might find the violence funny or awesome, but I find it overdone for no reason and borderline disgusting. That is my personal opinion, but I think that's a valid opinion.

Overdone? Maybe. That, and I think it's also become a bit passé, much like how progressive rock of the 1970s gave way to a more pop-oriented sound in the 1980s. It's been done. Boy, has it been done.

My only problem with it is if you upload a MK video with a fatality, it will most likely get Age-restricted. It's cartoon violence at this point. They keep trying to up the ante in the Fatalities, now it's ridiculous. That stuff only appeals to teenagers or kids these days.

In short, I'm very nervous after watching a few minutes of MK - too violent.

    Longer info (and probably off-topic)
In my case it's a good sign. This means that my pop culture detox works.

    Here's why.
You can laugh, but since I started filtering out the content I consume. This means to turn off
    - TV
    - moves
    - tv series (except maybe comedies?)
    - and many other

In general, FILTER OUT content that is based on dark side/hell/satanic side of life, like
    - anger
    - hate
    - jelous(?)
    - greed
    - violence
    - ..
    - consumptionism
    - materialism
    - competition (compare to cooperation)

    Instead turn on
    - love
    - friendship
    - nature (like sea, mountains - compare to deviant Nat.Geo. & Discovery programs that pushes you to the emotional hell)
    - channels like https://odysee.com/@AfterSkool:7

Now I see, that most of the pop culture is very .. satanic/hell/dark-side/keep-you-down (seriously, including songs :))
I even started to question, if e.g "good" John Mclain kills a couple of "bad" guys. And just after that we throws a joke. Seriously, killing isn't a bit off? Since when someone who kills is good?

I'm saying it all as a former big fan of Game of Thrones, yea the very violent book/tv series.

Good point, my avatar is changed :) Thank you :).
Of course, at some level even playing VF won't be acceptable (because of violence, competition, gambling on win-euphoria/lose-being-down, or maybe not? you can still have good, friendly matches focused on the development as well?). Anyway, it's a path.

I dunno, I think there is inevitable violence in the Universe. The struggle between good and evil, matter and anti matter, light vs dark, the explosion of super nova that leads to new solar systems etc.
