Its not so much the move lists but the basic training, evading, and TE's. I don't know if training the move sets or combos is that great since many have changed. The basics training in Evo is great. Just my 2c

vf4 evo basic/intermediate/advance training is the best i wouldnt know how to play vf 4 or 5 without it. Your game will improve alot from it.

Yes. It's worth it, even though the character cast had some of their moves/stances changed from the Virtua Fighter 4 series. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

I'd say yes, although the reason I have been a proponent of vf4evo for beginners is the training trial section that lets you practise some advanced defense and stuff and know if youre doing it right or wrong. Its not as much the vf4 movelists although there are similarities in those as well between vf4 and vf5. Some staple combos exist in both.

the moves is different, but still very similar. i changed my mind from earlier. i said 4/10 for helpful, because i'd put it @ 2/10 for me, but i played the hell outta dojo already. It wont make u instantly better. its more likely to make u worse fo a bit. but after u let the info dump settle, and start just playing naturally, eventually advanced techniques will start bleeding into your game. they re-released soul caliber xbl--2 bad they dont just do the same with evo dojo.
the defense is what ur going 2 really need to improve anyway. seriously, if u block/get out of 1 more combo/throw per every round or 2 and then swing it to a combo/throw in ur favor --this is huuuuuuuge. like a 5-6 dan level swing. every little bit is a whole lot. p.s. play none other and save ur replays

It is all about the basic fundamentals and going through the training mode in VF4 evo will teach you those basics most of the being defensive basics like how to fight off jabs as 1 example. The overall defensive quality isn't very good among many players and if more people went through the training in VF4 evo they would know more of the fundamental defensive principals needed for VF5. It isn't about the move lists, it is about the defensive basics the game provides

Konjou gives it a thumbs down! Waste of time if you ask me. The timing for so many things is just so different when you look at evading, throw escaping and such. Why train your hands and fingers at something that it just can't replicate 100% when you switch over to VF5? If it was worth it, trust me I'm one of the biggest training mode whores there is, I would be locked in there 24/7. Sorry in my opinion... not worth it! If you want to get good just play a lot online in ranked or player matches. VF5 really is not that hard to get good at pretty quickly. Sure there will be hurdles to jump over, but they are not that high.

Erm I disagree with this one.. Maybe replace the word 'good' with the word 'better'. Playing player matches is also not that helpful unless you know what you are supposed to be doing and what is going on. Learning from VFwiki here and framelists etc gives this understanding in hte long run. Combine this with versus whether online or offline. However, offline is preferable since lot ofthe basic stuff just doesnt work in online. Framelists matter little in lag.

Most of these things you can practise in vf5 dojo also, but it doesnt give any tutorials or anything..You have to know what you are doing.

I think Konjou was using the powers of sarcasm manji /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

The dojo mode in VF5 isn't too bad. If you set the CPU to Block and counter attack 5 (mid or throw) you can practice your more advanced defensive techniques (fuzzy guard and ETEG.) You can also experiment with which moves you need to fuzzy and when you need to evade.

My take and I've said it before:

Internet sarcasm sucks... A lot of the effect of sarcasm is the intonation of your voice, it doesn't translate well to text. I often don't pick up on it here, it's really not obvious. I didn't think Konjou was being sarcastic but, I guess, only he can tell us for sure.

It looks like he was giving, honest, sound advice. Online games do make you better, why would that be sarcastic?

    To those that are sarcastic:

Why be sarcastic, no point, just give the kid advice... Who cares?

I definately think it'll help you hammer out some kinks in your game if you don't have a clue about what you're doing.

Regardless of the moves that are there, and the speed and feel in contrast to VF5, it will be a good medium to work with when trying to learn the mechanics. (it's hard to imagine people actually start from scratch with this game.)

Not to mention it's, like, $7... and yes, they should have either directly ported that system to one of the versions of VF5 in the not-so Japanese hemisphere or implemented an updated one.
