Joho's Goh Matches

So I figured its about time I contributed to the replays being thrown around. I used to love doing replays of old online fight games I played with SRK people and so I decided to start up again.

Mostly doing this in hopes that someone will point me in the right direction to level up, so if you notice one of the many things wrong with my game, feel free to tell me /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I like the costume setup for the first Jacky user... wish I could say the same about the quality of play.

The second Jacky user seems to be a better VF player, but I get the impression that they don't know what they're doing with Jacky so much (like Jacky is their secondary character or something).

The first Akira user has terrible reaction times; too often did I see him just standing there doing nothing or just holding down the guard button.


The second Akira User seemed alright: some effective flowcharts were noticeable, though they got a little repetitive.

The first Wolf User seemed very average, and appeared to be very susceptible to being conditioned, which you fully exploited in order to rack up the throw damage. I don't think I saw a single Screw Hook in the entire fight.

I don't know anything about Vanessa, so I can't comment.

The second Wolf User seemed to be too concerned with throwing out huge damage moves and flashy hit throws rather than playing properly (which can pay off with Wolf, but a faster character would have ripped him to shreds). Again, I don't think I saw a single Screw Hook.


Your Goh seems ok; your defense is more impressive than your offense, particularly your throw escapes.

In the first video with the first Akira, I liked the "PK > Backturned > Cancel > Throw" that you did.

If I was to offer any advice, it'd be to apply more aggression to your game when you've downed your opponent. Having to rise against a character with 70 damage throws, as well as low throws and a catch throw, can be quite difficult, I find.


I do think it's a bit vain of you to upload only the fights in which you won; it's usually more helpful if people can critique your losses rather than just say how well you can crush people.


Just my opinions; take them as you will.

 

What was interesting in your vid vs KingOfCarnage is that you are both playing intelligently and there's hardly any repetition of moves in the match. KoC does pk then tries to throw you you did low punch, next time he tries a pk and goes for the flying knee to beat your low punch only the second time you blocked and then punished him for it. Also you close the distance once with goh's f,f+k and then once with onother midkick and in the final round we see KoC try a midkick sabaki only you dashed in this time. And KoC behaved similarly by doing things like switching to OS after a successful f,f+k (dunno why though) and going for delayed throws. I personally really liked the match, i apreciate this kind of gameplay even if it's not filled with awesome stepping and other frivolities - what would have made it awesome though is if it had ended with Heaven's Gate instead of that silly (and easily broken as you demonstrate in the first round) neutral throw /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I wouldn't be too hasty to hold this against anyone, these are all from XBL after all. Everyone in that list I generally have full green bars with but xbl does act up once n a while.

Totally agree with you there. I think playing newer players has conditioned me to dashing back from their rising attack to apply oki, which I need to stop doing all the time. I refuse to host anymore so maybe that'll help me stop, thats why I'm on 2p side all the time /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Erdraug: I think its pretty awesome how someone can watch you play and notice things about your game that you didn't even realize was going on. Because you did just that. Some of the things you said I don't even remember thinking to do in the match. I guess thats just kinda feeling it instead of thinking it. Nice vids Joho, i'd try and offer advice but I don't know Goh at all. One thing I do know is you try to throw quite a lot and I think that's what normally gets me the wins when we play.

I can see were you are coming from here it's been pointed out to me quite a lot, i blame the lagz!

Also I don't seem like myself in those matches, like all the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif usage when Joho barely does low or standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

 

Awesome matches! I like watching Feck's Akira a lot! I like your aggression Feck... I definitely didn't think "you were just standing there..." Looked like you were playing a legit frame game and waiting for your openings... When you got them you capitalized too.

Ah, I didn't realise they were online matches; I thought it was an offline gathering of some sort. That's fair enough, then.

As for fearing the rising kick... just don't. None of them are very powerful and the frames on them are horrid; you'll quickly get people to stop whoring rising kicks when you punish them with a guaranteed 50 damage retaliation after blocking it for the umpteenth time. Also, my brother has a nasty habit of crushing rising attacks with Goh's knee, so if you can do that, it'll cause people to think even harder before choosing to use one (no one likes to eat a counter-hit knee combo).

 

The "second Jacky player" was Yosuke. He's forgotten more about VF than you will ever learn.

And Jacky is one of his mains.

Honestly I think I only have one against his Goh and its from like 4-5 months ago. I've never played GThief in player matches so most of the time I just head straight back to match search to try and get him again when he hosts /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Needless to say it would be a pounding if I did. His Goh gets in your head man.
