Couldn't make it to the tourney but congrats to all the winners. I've been to other (Tekken) tourneys though and they're hella fun. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

I'm surprised my homey Wes didn't use Lion ... you have a deadly Lion dude! And I already know about Joon's Wolf from first-hand experience, very awesome indeed.

Congratulations to all the winners. Was this recorded(direct feed)? If it was, when can we expect to see the footage?

We tried to use my video converter with a S-video cable coming right from the board, and while we did get a signal, it seemed scrambled somehow, and we couldn't figure it out; so we just shot using a tripod from behind the machine. The results are definately good enough for putting up, so I have to convert them to MPEGs or whatever, then find someone willing to host them.

i can host them if you can get all the videos under a total of 300 megs, maybe if you used divx compression or something.

Ill also have to take off the revolution dvd intructional videos for the time being.

Ill post pictures of the event soon also.

Couple of final comments, Most of us were surprised that joey didnt take it all the way. Most of us were thankful that he didnt end up using his Lau of 34 winstreak doom /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

My kage beating his kage was definately a fluke, and so ends my kage tourney career. Atleast for now. One thing this tourney proved to me is that, im defineately a leifei player no doubt about it. Till the next Infinity Cup, I practice Lei. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

    More Pictures

PS. if anyone wants any pictures supersized of anything- give me a picture description and file ## or URL -PM me and ill send over a 1600x1200 copy.

Well it was our first tournament, and things went pretty smoothly, im sure we can have a better understanding this the next time for sure. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif
Im sure everyone agreed that seeding took too long, if we had a 2nd machine that would of worked out very smoothly too, but we can only manage.

I say we should do tourneys on a quarterly event, so maybe in march or so should be the next tourney?

Sticking to this march tourney date, hopefully we can do the seeding in a console meet the day before. Then at AI we have a single tourney and team battle.

Yeah, the one thing Aim and I took away from that experience was - apart from the fact that in general it went really well - was that next time (and there will be a next time) we'll have the bracket rules totally chiselled in stone before we start. This is not to criticize Talis and Catherine, who I think did a great job under pressure, but it's an area in which we can improve somewhat.

The seeding did take a long time it's true, but now that we have that data we can re-use it perhaps? That is, we could now jump straight into an elimination tourney. We'd just need to update the seeding periodically, perhaps with console tournaments as you suggest.

Aim and I had a bit of a "debrief" with Talis, Catherine and Brian, and apart from discussing Texas (we're keen to go) the following date was mentioned for Infinity Cup 2.0:

    Saturday March 1st.

So let's start discussing that - right now we haven't spoken to AI about this yet (but we're sure they'll be OK about it). I say let's plan on going straight to Eliminations, and perhaps we can have a straight up double elim and a team battle (since team battle seems to be a popular request). Apart from rules changes I think everything else about the tournament could be pretty much the same - perhaps the badges could be even cooler!

What does everyone think? Several people spoke up very late about times and dates of Infinity Cup 1.0 - so this is a heads up to register your preferences on dates and times now when we can still change it!

Finally I updated the results page with a correction Plague pointed out - Wes actually beat Mike in Round 6. Also I realized that I forgot to "officially" thank Talis for making the poster - so thanks!

Man, this is longer than I intended...

    cam.
