I heard from mike, who heard from Brisal that AI has gotten VF4 Evo and has the card system!

While I haven't talked to Brisal, this sounds exciting. can anyone confirm?

I can confirm one thing... VF4 EVO at AI is the F'n BOMB.

    AI setup:
2 seperate Japanes style 29' cabinets (1 player on each side)
Each cabinet has there own VFnet card system (damn it was awesome) I believe I ranked up 3 times and ended the night with a 18-12 record with Wolf
Sound is nice and clear, but the 2nd player cabinet's sound is off. I'll ask if they can fix that the next time. Good thing the 1 player sound is high so both sides could hear.
    Picture is sharp and clear
75Cents to start and 50Cents to continue
1player games are best of 3.
2player games are best of 5. (random arenas)
    VFnet cards are $5

Thats all I can think of now. Im just stoked that there is a EVo machine back in Socal. Plus I live only 5 minutes from AI and the icing on the cake is the Card system. Now I just need to find out how to insert my name on the card.
Just me and Plague were there and some Scrub played a couple of games. Lots of people looking though especially with the Card System attached to it. Anyways I will probably stop by tomorrow night after work at around 9:30pm if anyone wants to meet up. If you have any questions let me know.

Also ... I would like to thank Ai for getting the game. I will personally send them an email to thank them for getting us in Socal the best setup that a VF player would want, (if your part of the Socal crew I suggest you do the same)

Bryan - I remember you saying the American version of EVO has Brad and Vanessa with costume revisions? So Brian(Brisal73) have you been able to notice through these details that what you're playing is the American version?

cool guys, this is indeed exciting news! /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

    It's absolutely fucking stunning!

Cabinets are 29" Astro City (no more projection, YAY!!!!!).

As Brisal73 says, we don't know how to put our names on our cards, nor do we know if the machine is hooked into VFNet. It is a Japanese machine. We did rank up and we appear to have fight money.

    So beautiful.

    Very cool, indeed.

If we can still accesorize our characters. That would be the world. I really doubt it since its VFnet related. But who knows AI surprised me many times before. I can only hope for the best. Only way is to find out tommorow.
IM SO STOKED!! TIME TO LEARN GOH!!

    Oohhhhh shit!

it's on now! This gives me the incentive to finish up the stuff I've been putting off. If nothing is going on tomorrow (mon) then I'll be at AI. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Doesn't matter to me if it's hooked to VF.net, but if it happens to be connected, then you'll see a green "cell phone signal" graphic on the lower left and right side just like in PS2 ver. If there's no connection, then either the graphic won't be there, or it'll be gray with a red line going diagonally thru it.

Next time you watch a jpn VF4 video, take note.

Could you post or PM us the person we should contact?

I still can't beileve they got the back 2 back with VF.net cards and everything. Weren't we laughed at when we suggested they get it? Anyway, I'm glad I'm gonna be working soon, coz I'm gonna need the money so I can dump it at AI. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

If you would, please post if you're heading out there. Catherine will be back tonight from Arizona, but I'm not sure when.I think she'll want to check this out as well (she had a hard time believing me on the phone last night). Tonight's way up in the air for us.

VFnet... I didn't notice a green cell phone signal icon or a grayed out red slashed icon - just the red and blue p1 and p2 icons.

VFnet... our cards display "no name" (when they were first inserted, they said "new card") There was no obvious way that I could see to input a name. I hope it's not too late to add a name and I hope it can be added on the machine iself.

Pardon me for answering for Brisal73, but I saw that the 1p Vanessa has the non military work-out outfit - not to mention that just about everything is in Japanese /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

Edit: I now see that I already mentioned it was Japanese in my first post. Sorry for the redundancy /versus/images/icons/blush.gif

Well, me and sean is going to head out tonight. I would also would like to be put on the mail list for the thank yous. I remember about a month back asking the chan family if they would get VF4 evo they told me a maybe but unlikely. I also said if they could get vfNET. They told me it was thereoretically impossible to do it. I guess they might have used the Hong Kong Hack method. Well anyway count me and sean in for tonight. I think i our group being there and pumping that machine full of quarters and maybe VFnet cards willbe thanks plenty.

Brisal73: sorry i missed you off irc. Passed out to bed early. Got school and stuff soon. We'll probably discuss whatever tonight

Sounds Awesome! a vs. City cabinet with cards, too cool to be true. like someone else said, I seriously doubt it's hooked up to VF.net. Talis said something about having fight money, but to get fight money you have to play mission mode or have a "sho datsu sen" (winner gets a prize). You can't have those without the machine being hooked up to the net. If you saw those, it's connected.

You won't be able to make ring names if it isn't hooked up. In fact, you'll only be able to do what you're doing now, rank up and change colors. You MIGHT be able to get curse items, but I'm not sure. You can look forward to changing colors at 5th Kyu and 1st dan (after that you have to wait until Tsuwamono, and you can't be Tsuwamono without registering your character with VF.net).

Anyway, I think we shoud be having all our big LA get-togethers at AI from now on. Playing with the card system is just too much fun. I'lll probably be out there Wed or Thursday with my 5th Dan Akira card in tow!

I think we should alternate. 75 cents a game is monstrous for a fighting game. Especially if it is 3 rounds. Hopefully they'll lower the price soon.

No, no Talis you answered my question just fine now. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

If EVO's got the cards, I'd imagine you could get items by winning them through certain tasks, like you do in the ps2. Or is the only way to access the data on the VFNet cards through internet and the cell phone service??

I can't stress how this sounds too good to be true. If only AI had a discount like SHGL did with their Tuesday nights 35 tokens for 5 bucks...

Regardless, come this December, I will be all over that arcade if EVO stays!

OK, clarification time. I just spoke with Spotlite - what I thought were numbers representing money were actually my experience points and number of uses left on the card.

There are instructions in Japanese available on how to transfer card data from one card to the next (when you need to replace your card). These are accessed during character selection by pressing [P]+[K]+[G].

I believe the machine is not connected to VFnet. Spotlite gave me details on when the information on your card is transmitted to VFnet and vice-versa. When you put in your name, etc.

We will get color changes at 5th kyu and 1st dan. Anything beyond that (including item equipping) requires VFnet.

Some possibilities exist for VFnet connection and registration - AI could connect temporarily - we then put all our cards in, register on a PC over the internet (this is where your names go in and you equip items and colors after 1st dan), go back to the connected VF4 Evo machine and update the cards -OR- send cards to someone in Japan who could do this (GaijinPunch or Zero-chan for instance - I have not petitioned them in anyway to do this, however - this is merely a suggestion I just made up).

75 cents is just to start a game. 50 cents to continue. Vs. matches are best of 5 a 1 player game is best of 3. As long as you have comp. and the player puts there token in the slot before time runs out it should most of the time only cost 50 cents

I was looking over the Vfnet website and it says something about vfnet for PC. My question is...Is it possible to update cards thru this?

    Here is the link

I guess I'll be playing EVO every day this week. Which isn't a bad thing. See you guys there tonight. - Brian with an "I"
