laptops notebook suggestions

I guess this is as good as a place as any.

I need to get a laptop. What do you guys reccommend? I am looking to spend 5 to 7 hundred. I just need internet (wireless and ethernet if possible) watch movies and run basic programs. Nothing big. A burner would be nice too, tho. No games.

not bad, woulda thought u'd be getting a intel centrino laptop, those sound along the lines of what u will be doing on it. They last longer in terms of battery life and are meant for surfing the net wirelessly.

My notebook purchase through UBid includes more extras than that Amazon link (the base comp.) I posted....these extras include a wirless card. ;-D

 

depends on the laptop but centrino's usually last a good 2 more hours or so, maybe more depending on what ur doing.

This might be a stupid question, but then again I am a pretty stupid guy, heh...

I called HP to extend my warranty on my HP Pavilion zv5320 lappy, but I need it to cover me in China for a year. They told me to contact china's HP center, if they have one and ask about it or some shit like that. I am sure I am not the only one with this problem, and knowing that many of you peeps travel around the world my question is this:

What do you guys do for a warranty when you bring your laptop into another country?
