1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

LCD Monitor for PS3

About to get my PS3 (Australian launch) and I've been thinking it might be time to upgrade from my 34cm TV to something a little bit more suitable. But only a little. I've been doing some reading, and thought about going via an LCD monitor. The samsung 940BW caught my eye, (http://www.samsung.com/au/products/monitors/tft/tvmonitor/940bw.asp) seeming to be very cheap, with quick response (4ms), supporting HDMI HDCP and receiving good reviews. And when I upgrade my desktop in a year, it can go there and I can think about other options.

Some questions that are confusing me at the moment though

    - The resolution does not quite match any of the PS3's output modes that I know of. Will it display with black bars or stretch the image. Will the stretching create lag? Does anyone have an image of this so I can see how bad it will be (the difference is 16:9 to 16:10, so I'm guessing it will only be about 11% vertically.)

    - Is there anything else to be aware of? I plan to use a simple HDMI to DVI cable to do the job.

Thanks for any help, for a poor gamer.

    P.s. I'm in Australia.

We're using Dell 20" widescreens (16:10, 1680? x 1050). There is vertical stretch rather than black bars. They run at 720p through HDMI to DVI. I think their response is 14ms. No one has mentioned lag to me (I also play VF5 on my 480i SD CRT TV and can't tell the difference).

Video set-up notes - use auto-detect and custom set-up option. For the Dells, I need to check only 720p for things to go smoothly (480i is permanently checked by default on my US PS3).

Use this device by logitech to bring PS3 sound to computer speakers.

Thanks for the reply, this and the posts on TZ have pretty much answered all my questions, and helped me make my decision.
