First, this is a little bit of venting here, so keep that in mind.

So whats the deal with Akira's duck punch (seinfield intro),
but seriously, does his duck punch have less frames than anyone elses, or do all his moves leave him at an advantage. it is very frustrating, he bull rushes, and then it seems i should be able to block his charge and duck punch him, or come with some sort of attack on block, but nooooooooo, I block his moves and then, blam, he duck punches me, over, over, over. Also, why is this the universal Akira strategy? (obviously probably b/c its so darn effective, but why else?)
when I block his move and then try to sidestep the duck punch, no avail. Is that b/c i'm evading to soon? What strategy should be employed against thais? And just FYI i am curretnly working on more evades against him, but what other strategies. I've heard block high and TE, but my TE isn't great, and after a certain point i'm just blocking and getting pushed closer and closer to the edge of teh ring.

you should be able to evade the low punch after you block akira's mid pressing moves like elbows or whatever. I don't know if you'd have enough time to switch to doku 8KPG and reverse the LP but I think you have not enough time.

Use more mids when you guard that Akira's moves. That means, using half circular and full circular mids also.

why more mids, will they override his duck punch

Akira is so frustrating I just throw my arms sometimes.

He has this double palm rising attack after he rolls off the floor that ALWAYS gets me, no matter if I'm blocking or trying to evade. WTF, I knocked him down and instead of having a certaing advantage to continue punishing I find myself on the air. What to do?

If he does those rushing elbows then yeh, after you guard them, quick mids will counter hit his low punch.

Block the double palm then PK or throw him, but if you can sidestep in time then go for a big move.

Ditto on that Double palm. And what is the PK move, what does that terminology stand for (i'm sure i'm just being dense there)

People refer to "PK" because it's univeral 12-frame punishment, that is every character can do PK for good damage. Not, however, that many characters also have a PPP combo, which is guaranteed at all the same times, and it oftens does slightly more damage. Charcters like Akira himself have no PPP though, so we say PK just to be universal.

I'm pretty sure that after blocking anything that leaves at advantage (even +1), you should have more than enough time to go into Dokoritsu for the auto low punch reversal. Most of the other stuff mentioned here is probably more effective, but it works.

If you're getting low punches out of a failed evade animation, I would guess that 90% of the time, it means you evaded too early. Remember if you block something, you're usually at advantage, so you can't evade until your opponent actually starts a move. If you just buffer an evade as soon as possible, it'll fail every time.

If you have trouble dodging and he's hitting you before you can hit him in those situations, it sounds to me like one of you is lagging.

Truth be told if you know its coming like Slide say the Mid attacks can neautralize this very quickly lead to rising counters and changing his/Mindset completely (Sometimes).

Try to know when they're trying to duck punch, then go for a reversal to give your opponet damage.

If it helps, Akira's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif all give advantage on guard. For /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, I suggest evading, or even better, crouching under those. Learning to crouch under high attacks can be a big help in lots of situations; most evident in the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif string.

Nah, the hitboxes aren't the same. Some characters low punch you can dash away from them easier and depending on footstance.
