Don't attack at disadvantage and use mids.

If they hit you with a 2P you are at -4 so you should fuzzy guard. There are other options but your safest bet is going to be a fuzzy guard.

If the 2P counter hits you then you're at -7 and should ETEG again, this is not the only option but it beats most offensive options.

If you block a 2P then you are at +4 so fight back from that, online you may drop a few frames depending on the connection though.

I'm sure there will be a thread floating about with more info as I kno myself and a few others have asked the question in the past.

The long and short of it is to react rather than act if you know what I mean. Don't try and do your own thing, beat their game instead.

Oh, and as I said before. use mids. [2][P] will crouch under high attacks.

Which character are you using? Some have great anti-2P moves.

Block one LP then elbow. Or evade.

using goh and kage, seemed like this dude playing as kage would do a combo of different variations, and always follow up with a lp that would interrupt whatever i would try to do.

I'd need bit more information (what exact moves does he use) to point out his attack strings vulnerability.

Most of the time the issue is online latency and you being too slow.
What character do you use yourself? If you use Goh and Kage, Goh's elbow is [3][P] Kages [6][P]. Block the opponents attacks and then immediately retaliate with these. If you are too slow to react, then their lowpunch will win. Goh also has [4][3][P]+[K] (followup with any attack) and Kage has [9][K]+[G] to beat low punch.

wait. so there's three potential things going on here.

    1) he's actually *mashing* d+P. in that case all of the advice above is good to follow. once you've blocked one you can punish him.
    2) he's doing a string of moves, canned combo or otherwise, and then hitting d+P to avoid attack/throw retaliation. in this case you need to know what the string of moves are and where you are able to punish due to recovery (assuming you've blocked) or level mis-match (his attack finishes high and you can attack low).
    3) you're online and the lag is enough that you should really just consider playing someone else where the frame game works a little better.

low sabaki into basara with goh.
    ( :
    GG. but... kage is tough.

Alot of kage's lp more often at certain moves.. remember which moves he does it from.. the most common one is 9 K+G. btw shinta ur always welcome to our xbox live party and ask some players on their for advise. I use goh and so does AssassinCP, so if u wanna come by and play with us ur more than welcome.

god i believe it was option two, because if the guy was just doing random lping i would be able to come up with a strategy for that. He knew what he was up to and managed to fill all the gaps in his offense with a lp, he didn't even need defense. manji, that lp counter is goh is hard to time right, if could get it down though an opponent like that would be no problem. and 169... where is this party you speak of?

If its option 2, then you need to know the moves after which he will lowpunch. Pay attention to his attack patterns.

It depends on what moves he uses what your best option is, but its safe to say you can lowpunch him before he can do his own lowpunch in that scenario. Its highly likely that you can just elbow him (Kage [6][P] Goh [3][P]) instead too.
A highdamage option is also to do an OM K.

The moves after which lowpunch is a legit choice are few and far between. For example, After eileens [2][3][6][P]+[K][K] (the flip forward and kick downwards) Eileens low punch cant be interrupted. In those few cases you can still do a DM attack or evade and try a fast mid. Sabakis work best in those cases too since the timing is already tight. Goh can do evade->lowsidethrow.

The most damaging options are always situation specific or characterspecific though so its hard to say anything about that until I know more about what your opponent does.

The best strategy in general against excessive lowpunchers is zoning; backdash into a midhitting launcher or a fast sidekick etc. Goh's basic K is pretty good for this, Kages [3][K] or elbow->shippu. Bait with a punch or a fastrecovering move, then backdash into a sidekick. Kage excels at zoning btw. OM can work marvels as well as those lowpunchers most often lowpunch from small disadvantage to avoid having to resort to any real defense.

Funny detail about Kage at least in open stance: If you do [6][P]~[P]+[K]+[G] to enter shippu stance and the elbow is blocked, if you dont do anything but just wait without pressing anything, opponents low punch will whiff [IMG] then you are free to slap them to a combo with shippu [3][P].

Also: Kages [9][K] (the 'Van Halen' kick) should beat low punch clean, cannot be sabakied and its safe on block (-7)

    Beating [2][P] with Goh:
    • block [2][P] > [3][P]
    • block [2][P] > [2][P] > back-dash > [K]
    • block [2][P] > back-dash > [[6][K], [6][P][+][K][P]], [K] or [3][K]
    • evade [2][P] > [[4][6][K][+][G], [6][6][P][+][K], [P][G], [IMG][6][P][+][K]]
    • evade [2][P] > [3][P]
    • sabaki [2][P] with [4][3][P][+][K] > [IMG][6][P][+][K] or Tsukami Grab ([6][P][+][G])

Yes, but Im fairly certain that the evade low punch -> [4][6][K]+[G] isnt. This is gut feeling though, I didnt test it yet. Sabaki most likely gives a lot more advantage, although the amount of advantage depends on how early you do the sabaki.

Low punch sabaki -> [4][6][K]+[G] is also a combo when done right, giving Goh one of the most damaging guaranteed lowpunchpunishes in the entire game, but you have to predict the lowpunch with little leeway for error. It propably works best when opponent is lowpunching out of severe disadvantage though.

editx2: Thanks to feck for pointing this out to me, according to the evade formula on our wiki, low punch is safe when evaded.
d+P total frames 30 - 21 - 1(minimum disadvantage) = 8 frames advantage to evader after evading in the best case. Not enough for anything guaranteed and its not even possible to 46K+G between two lowpunches after evading the first.

ps. Its still possible to DM P+K a lowpunch succesfully.

Ok this wasnt as good as I remembered, it wont beat low punch in disadv past -1 and its not safe on block as I thought.

Wish I could edit that away from my previous post.

Sabaki to basara is imo harder due to distance than sabaki to [4][6][K]+[G].

Low punches are better than people give them credit for tbh. If it hits at all, you got good advantage. On counterhit its true nitaku. Low punch spamming is bad on any scale though.
