MAME

i didnt know where to put this thread but I guess this is the right place =P
anyway does anyone here have MAME? i cant get the games to work, it finds them but when i try to start a game it just says something like "the game is missing files". i have about 5 games, same thing with all of them.
the roms are downloaded from rom world and rom nation

Probably fake ROMs or incorrect Mame version. They update roms & stop the old versions working in newer Mames. Try downloading them from elsewhere (not exactly going to tell you where though - I doubt that's allowed on here).

PS: MAME is the best thing ever!

 

Or, you're missing the BIOS roms. Certain games need the correct ones to run (for instance, Radiant Silvergun needs the ST-V bios).

 

Many times one rom has the needed files for other roms. If you get SF2T, you may need to put a few other SF roms into that folder to make the original one work. For some reason, the necessary bios(?) files may be contained in one ROM, and the others end up relying on it. Seems ridiculous but it worked for me. Then plug in the ole Hori Stick and bust out the Yoga Teleports all day.

PS- The mame version does mean a lot, too. It's all just trial and error.

If you got plenty of HD space, you should be able to get the latest version and the correct ROM's for it from torrent sites.

I think it's around 60 -80 gig without the CHD's, I haven't got the room anymore on my 160 gigabyte HD so I had to get rid of most of the ROM's.
