Who's got it? What are your impressions?

Just picked mine up 25 minutes ago and doing a million wii updates so i can play (lol, it had been soooo long since i'd played my wii).

I may not really get into it until i see if i can play with my brother.

Konjou? Where u at? We gonna do some hunting together.

Is nintendo ever gonna drop that stupid friend code and just have a "gametag" for this game??? Or will they at least attach a nickname to the friend codes???

i read on ign that u make a friends list on this game, so it angles away from friend codes.

    Quick PSA:
This game only works with the wii nunchuck, or the classic controller.

It does NOT work with the gamecube controller. So unless u want to attack by swinging the remote like a retard being attacked by bees...make sure u got a classic controller.

I had to take it back and exchange it for a copy of the game that came with the classic controller. Luckily they were cool and more than happy to assist @ my local gamestop.

I've been thinking of dusting off the Wii and getting this plus a Classic Controller Pro. Reviews have been overly positive with some already saying it's the Wii game of the year for 2010. The hype is high.

That being said, how casual is this game? Between spending tons of time playing ST and MGO I can only fit in 'pick up and play' games in like God of War III or Fat Princess. I don't have the time to dive into something like Final Fantasy XIII or Demon's Souls at the moment.

Is this game demanding of time? High learning curve? Must be played with others online to enjoy? Or can you learn quickly and then pick up and play leisurely?

I was to lazy to pick mines up today. I'll pick it up tomorrow after work and see what's up. Hopefully I won't have to update my Wii firmware because my Wii is modded and can run games off of an external HD.

If I have to update then you may not see me online till there is a work around. I'm really excited about this game, but I gotta get the most out of my Wii since it's just been a dust collector since Smash Bros. Brawl dropped. I haven't used my Wii since the second week that game came out.

I've got it. Haven't done much yet, but let's hunt some monsters sometime.

As for "pick up and play" there doesn't seem to be any leveling up so (I haven't leveled yet atleast)... yes? Also there were 2 updates when I started the game sorry Konjou : (.

EDIT: I have no idea how the online works yet. Maybe you have to reach a certain point in the game?

    word up. can't wait bro.

as for pick up and play. Not really (based on MH2, but i'm 99.99% certain this will be teh same).

Serious time-sink and "leveling up" required. no exp (aside from what you learn by playing the game--i.e. dragon's attack patterns, what works and what doesn't) but you level up in effect by beating better and better monsters and dragons, collecting parts and pieces (randomly awarded, and some very hard to get) to make better weapons and armors, allowing you to repeat the cycle vs. stronger foes. Until ulitmately, and countless hours later, you have good enough equip and armors to let you go after the strongest dragons/monsters and the toughest quests.

so, if you really want to play the game and have fun, yeah, considerable time is going to be required.

that being said, looks like i'll be buying a wii to get my grubby little hands on this thing.

yea monster hunter has a steep learning curve. Mastering weapons and patterns takes a while.
Making armor and weapons is probably the most time consuming.
I spent prolly a thousand hours on this game(mhf2-mhfu). But its so much fun, especially when u use ad hoc party.
Im not getting the wii version because mh3rd portable was announced for this november. so ill prolly play the jp version when it comes out. im also very content with playing mhfu still ^^.
also just to comment on the leveling, smb is right ^^. u lvl up your knowledge. you, the player, become better through hunting more. the only real leveling i can think of are the ranks. but that can be the same as clearing a stage in a regular game. ^^

but yea, the more hunters the better! im so happy to see yall talkin about it ^^

it should drop in Europe on the 23rd, FYI.

I have to say my 1st impression of the game is that looks significantly worse (graphics wise) than mh2. Anyone else notice this/think this?

Not a game breaker for me, but a disappointment. Actually, i've been disappointed since it was announced as a non next gen game. But it's still monster hunter, and i'll play the shit out of it before its all done with. Specially since i never played mh2 online.

P.S. I haven't actually put mh2 in to do a direct comparison, just going by memory, so i would be interested to hear others opinion.

picked it up about 2 hours ago... can't play it without updating my Wii which aint gonna happen. Making adjustments now to bypass the update so I can play. Looks like I'll have to run it as an ISO off my portable external that's connected to my Wii.

*sigh* I tried to support capcom and by the game without torrenting it and now look I have to torrent an ISO anyway just to play it lmao

I'd update my Wii, but it's rubbish to me without it being soft modded.

lmao, damn konjou, what all u got going on with your wii?

and no i hadn't planned on picking up wii speak, but never know. If it seems like i need it i might. But my experience has been any game with chat, i just want to mute everyone. Like on mw2, every game there is some moron dropping 35 N-bombs.

My Wii runs like the Wii in this video. I have a 320GB portable HD hooked up to one of the back USB ports that house games that I download from torrents and run right off the HD.

I barely use my Wii, but I like options and modded systems gives you options... not just for pirating games, but for running all sorts of other cool things that the Wii or any other system (think original Xbox) wasn't intended too.

If a system can be modded then most likely I will mod mines. I don't care if I have to own 2 systems, one modded and one legit then I will do it. At one point I owned 2 Xbox360, but one got banned from XBL and the other didn't. Thank god cause it was modded too. If the PS3 ever gets hacked then expect me to pick up another one of those so I can have one that's modded and one that not.

I have it. Played the game hardcore for awhile way back on the PS2 version, and this one fits like a glove. They really improved on almost everything.

It's especially nice for me because I'm a Gunner specialist, and now you have to put guns together in three parts, so you can mix and match based on your needs.
