New England VF: Anyone in Boston?

I've gone up to Shang's house twice in the last 3 weeks to play with him and Jerky one weekend, Shang and Hyun on the other. We all had a good time. Shang's got a great set-up. Huge flat screen and comfortable leather couches. He has a 360 already, so we'll be playing verC when it's released. He lives in West Roxbury, the southern most part of Boston. Easy to get to from points west and south of the city, if you're willing to travel.

I've asked Shang if he wouldn't mind hosting Sunday afternoon gatherings for those interested, and he's open to the idea. He says he doesn't believe there will be much interest, but if you're new to the game, and you're interested in having a good time and learning about VF5, you're more than welcome to come on by. Reply here, or PM me. Any skill levels are welcome.

Don't shy away because of Shang's rep here. Shang is Jeckel and Hyde IMO. He's most definately Mr. Hyde online, but in person he's Dr. Jeckel. He's always been friendly to me. He knows a lot about VF and how to apply that knowledge. He quickly adapts when I change my tactics. (Usually as quickly as the next round.) Most importantly, he can lucidly explain his theories to you. He's a good coach. He'll point out what you're doing wrong and how to correct it. I think he has the same goal I do: make your competition better so that you will get better too. In person he has a great sense of humor. Don't be scared off by his online persona.

Some weekends I may be going away for tournaments/gatherings, so we probably won't be playing at Shang's house those weeks.

I'm really hoping to maybe find some new blood around here. Was hoping the 360 release might have started that... anyway, I'm sure Shang's up for online bouts with anyone in the northeast, but I prefer to be more socialble.

I have to thank Shang and Hyun for our get togethers over the last few weeks.... my play has gotten much better. I made it to the final 4 of the winner's bracket in a 12 man tournament down at Jaxel's in NJ last weekend. I beat the Vanessa player that finished 3rd, and came closer than I've ever come before to beating Chief_Flash in a tournament. He gave me my first loss. Flash won the tournament. I was much more satisfied with my results.

I don't know about this Sunday, because of the big football game New England vs. Indy, but I plan on visiting Shang on Sun 11/11 for sure to tune up for VTYME the following weekend.

 

I'd be down for some offline play. This is the first VF game I have played since VF2 so I'm pretty scrubby as of right now. But hit me up with some details, I'm not sure how good Sundays will be for me but I will try to get out there.

Sunday is the best day for his schedule. It's his house. I like starting in the afternoon... we've been going 5-6 hours and I can still get back home at a reasonable hour.

I don't have a 360, but you should be able to find Shang online... (He's probably "Shangster", but I can't confirm that.) but he's told me he's probably going to sell his 360, so your window to fight him might be closing... If you're just starting out, however, you might be better off fighting lower skill level players online... How you doing online so far?

 

Jim, you need to get a 360. A lot of us have been playing online and it's actually not half bad. More than good enough for our silly Lion/Sarah Okizeme trick up games. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
