Filed under "Kanispo" section (for want of a better category). Lau def. Akira 3-2. Check out Akira's 8th dan red gi!

Ooh, great download. I thought the red gi made Akira look physically intimidating! Now I know what Bryan meant when he said that characters recover very quickly from a TR to a WS attack.

Sounds like there was a massive crowd watching these two guys play. Also sounds like they were rooting for Nagato to win.

    Noticed that:
    1. Lau's PPPkickflip no longer knocks down in ver.B. Akira could counter with SDE even after getting hit. Duh.
    2. Nagato managed to break Ed's throws many times by using f+P+G df+P+G double command throw escape.
    3. No idea why Nagato didn't follow up the DE (k.d.) with a DLC or Shoulder Ram~Double Palm in Round 5. Nerves, maybe...

Nice to see some new outfits coming up! Akira seems to have logo on the back of his red GI. Looks cool anyway.
As you mentioned, Lau PPPkickflip doesn't float anymore. Did you notice that Akira could do dashingE just after being hit by kickflipcombo. Lau has been toned down again..sigh.
It's possible that Lau's single kickflip will not knock down as well.

re SDE after PPPb+K - i don't think that was necessarily an mC. he may have just hit him after he recovered, while he was doing something else. it does look close, though.

Does the Bryant's or Pai's PPPKickflip variants not knock down as well? Curious...

    I haven't played ver.B personally, but I'd be willing to hazard that Sarah's and Jacky's ub+K knocks down, but Pai's and Lau's PPPb+K don't. Unsure about Pai's and Lau's ub+K though.

I'm fairly sure (don't ask me how) that it's just pai and lau's PPPb+K. It's to prevent a guessing game that ends with the opponent getting knocked down if they incorrectly guess high or low. Sarah and Jerky meanwhile don't have a PPPsweep equivalent.
Obviously kickflips still knock down, it'd be retarded if they didn't. Nobody would use them.

    Yeah, you're probably right.

The flipside to that, however, is that if you see Lau or Pai do PPP, you might as well block low for a split second thereafter, since even if you get tagged by the kickflip, you can still counter thereafter. (Of course Lau or Pai can try to elbow or G-cancel then regular kickflip, blah blah blah...)

Sarah and Jacky's Kickflip does knock down. Pai's Flipkick combo does not. I don't know about the the Chan's individual Flipkick though.
