Nifty new trick for Lei Fei I am using.

    I've looked on the boards and not found mention of this, so I will post it. It's not a huge discovery, but it's helping me. When you do his Falling Sweep Strings you can delay the 2nd move in the series, by almost a second. It doesn't seem like much since the Falling Sweep is a bit hard to use in the first place, but I have been using it to trip up my opponents quite well. It has a few options in the sequence.

    Normal Strings from Falling Sweep:
    [3][3][K]+[G][K] - Normal (LL)
    [3][3][K]+[G][K][K] - Normal (LLM)
    [3][3][K]+[G][K][K]+[G] - Normal (LLLH)

    Delay Varations of Falling Sweep:
    [3][3][K]+[G] (Pause) [K] - Falling Sweep, Delay, Ground Kick, Down Position (LL)
    [3][3][K]+[G] (Pause) [K][K] - Falling Sweep, Delay, Ground Kick, Double Leg Kick (LLM)
    [3][3][K]+[G] (Pause) [K][K]+[G] - Falling Sweep, Delay, Ground Kick, Rising Spin Kicks (LLLH)

    *The last move cannot be delayed it seems. Also, after the delay it seems the Ground Kick gains a different stun property. Maybe my friends are just walking into it, but it seems to get solid counter hit properties. I've had several crumple hits which has never happened before. It also seems to be a possible attack versus slow risers as 2nd attack can be delayed to allow for a mC(?) after a rising attack. Very iffy, but it has worked some against friends. They aren't very good, so I can't say how effective these moves could be in a competetive enviroment. >_< If it works, then let me know.

    I apologize if this has been mentioned before, but I have never seen it done or read about it.

    I love new tricks for Lei Fei. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

    yeah, delaying canned strings in general can be good. A strong delay trick for lei fei is [3][3][P] into either a delayed second [P], or into a throw.

    You can delay the second hit of [DM] [P]-[P]+[K] a tiny bit, and if that encourages the opponent to react and eat the second hit, you get a MC + throw opportunity. It helps to bait the opponent with one or two DM jabs.

    So I'm not the only one having problems with the falling sweep. Its a shame you can pause on the last one. I practice it over and over and fail.

    Are those moves are easier with an arcade stick?

    Im shocked you even ask.

    A decent stick is the ONLY way to play.

    I'm shopping for one now and I've read the whole "Buying an Arcade Stick" thread. Which mind you at the end degrades to Joystick pornography. I'm torn between a couple of different ones.

    A controller works ok, but can also suck sometimes too.

    Lei Fei is my fav new char. right now. I've been playing him extensivly lately and hopefully I can get him to tourney lev by time we go to TiT5. I'm just now finding out how deep this guy really is /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Also I just found out the other day that you can [P][P] delay [P]. (Well on C that is. Haven't played him yet on Evo.)

    Yes the last [P] of Lei's [P][P][P] string is no longer delayable, but it IS now a double-limbed attack. (unreversable by everyone except Aoi)

    Yeah, I wish you could pause the last one as well, but it has a tight frame. The falling sweep is a good move, but it seems to me to be hard to use on a regular basis because it executes slow. When it works it works though. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    I wouldn't say it's easier. It's just whatever you get used to. I can use a controller very well, but I set up the buttons different than standard so it allows for easier access to combination presses in my experiences.

    X = [G]
    Square = [P]
    Triangle = [K]

    It's not much different, but it is more accessible to me when I use a controller. I mostly use my PS1 NAMCO joysticks that I bought years ago. If you want a good joystick for a low price I recommend them. I bought a couple of them not long ago at Toys-R-Us for $5 each. I'm still gonna buy a Hori Evo stick if I don't decide to have me one made.
