1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Offensive move; Buffer?

Discussion in 'Dojo' started by endtransmission, Jun 9, 2012.

  1. Hi all,

Been checking this forum for as long as I can remember and playing VF for about 16 years (still not that good) thought I'd finally sign-up since FS is getting me back into VF for the first time in a while.

I just started playing FS and I've got a question that I can't find a straight answer for - apologies if it's already been asked.

What is the deal with the new offensive moves, is the idea that you hit all three buttons as a buffer for any offensive attack? That's what it seems like to me but the in-game explanations are utter balls.

    Thanks in advance.

Also any of you guys live in London? Have any meet-ups planed?

Offensive move or OM, allow you to move to the opponents side which can potentially lead to massive damage and some mind games. This is especially true for characters like Akira who have a horrifyingly good options against side turned opponents.

Hope this clears it up a bit [IMG].

It positions you to make your attacks land at a side-turned situation. When your strikes hits or is guarded by opponent in side turned situation, the frame difference will be more favorable to you than it would from striking opponent on the front side. You will have to enter your strike fairly soon after your offensive move ends.

A thread that just started talking a bit more about side-turned situation in VF5FS - Link

  4. Thanks for the info, I'll check-out that thread - doesn't up or down give that same result? Or is it different with the 3 button?

Up and down (DM) will only put you in side-turned situation on a successful evade (depend on opponent striking at you). OM put in a side turned situation when opponent not striking at you. If opponent attempts to strike you when you do OM, you will likely get hit.

[8] or [2] will only have you at your opponent's side if there is a successful evade. Offensive move places you at your opponent's side regardless if you evaded or not.
