What a great day for Playstation owners, well it will be when the PSP finally comes out. Still either way I'm looking forward to acquiring the new handheld. The story is here: Official PSP Announcement.

Sounds interesting...but I wonder how much they'll charge for this thing.

Maybe some competition will get nintendo off of their asses and stop making so many goddamn remakes for the GBA. Made in Wario is cool though /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Finally a handheld that's not cartridge based. What the hell was Nintendo thinking when they made the GBA cartridge based???
The UMD sounds like it has good potential.

I'm guessing the the PSP will either be the same or slightly more expensive than the GBA. It can't be more than $150 though. No way in hell i'm going to pay the same price for a Handheld as a console.

It'd be sooo awesome if you could record stuff on the UMD like you can for the MD. Like use it not only for games but to burn music onto it and just listen to MP3s. I think that's what Kutargi meant by the "walkman of the 21st century".

If we can burn music and other shit on the UMD, I"m definitely buying it! hell yeah.

I'm just guessing, but I imagine something along the lines of "Hey, you know what? All the games we want to put on this thing can fit on a cartridge!" /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Seriously though, a lot of my co-workers are really excited about this thing, and I guess it'll be interesting to see what new games make their way onto the system, but until there's a game on the same level as the Sonic Advances, the Mario Advances, the Yoshi's Islands, the Castlevania's, there's little reason for me to be excited. Why fix what isn't broken?

I agree. I'm waiting to see the lineup of games before I make up my mind. The one issue that has me worried is the battery life. I just hope it's not a dissapointment like Sega's "Game Gear".

I think what he meant was that it will have the same impact as the walkman did in the 80s. That's a great idea though that they might incorporate.

As for power, they should have a rechargeable battery similar to GBA SP.
