I would just like to say what a great game this is.
Sure, there are no CG, no voice overs (well..only towards the end)...no NPCs for u to interact n stuff.

what this game has is style...n it's a shooter game at heart.

n the ultimate challenge...unlock the best suit..yet it results in ur character being killed by A SINGLE SHOT!

Alot of large n *influential* websites are gonna can this game..

But, plz give this game a try...

Now that's a game. I've been wondering what's happening to games, what with all the focus on scripted storylines and CGI scenes; why is everyone trying to make the next Jerry Bruckheimer picture?

Let's hear it for more videogames that are just that: games. "Arcade" is not a ditry word.

 

The game is indeed incredibly stylish, and from what I'm told, it's far superior to the disappointing DMC2. The sales of the game thus far have been absolutely horrible here in Japan, though. The latest DoriMaga reports the game coming in at UNDER 7,000 UNITS.

... ow.

No wonder Capcom's dropping the GC like a ton of bricks.

I hate reviewers that can arcade -> console games.
Always citing reasons like 'no replay value' . Even their idea of replay value is 'collecting n unlocking'.

I love how some websites idea of vf4 being so fun is becos of the replay value in kumite...-> items.

(I know a few that refuse to play shinobi..citing that 'it's too hard for no good reasons..n the gfx are ugly')

After the initial hooo haas with the game (which i went thru as well...esp with the controls..for the first 20 mins..i was like 'oro?')

He also gave it a thumbs up after spending more time n actually 'learning' to play the game!

I guess, I'm just disappointed that alot of games I love are new ideas, refreshing to play but, no one buys them. Aka Rez...Aka space channel 5..long live UGA!

I hope viewtiful Joe will be more popular!

 

On IGN think they mentioned the control as being strange, but the NTSC review that left me drooling. Maybe because its a "niche" title without a niche. Still I think it would sell like crazy in the states. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

They way it seems now in Japan nobody buys anything unless it features Final Fantasy chicks in skimpy costumes.

 

I'm sorry, but FFX-2 is a great and fun game... square bashing has lost it's purpose, not every FF game is going to appeal to everyone. If you don't like it, play another game. Imo, every FF game is quality, although some are much better than others. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

From Charlie´s Angels to Tomb Raider to a level of fanservice not even seen in DoAX, FFX2 remains a crap game with no redeeming features whatsoever.
And the characters still cant fucking walk straight.

 

Don't forget constant character epilepsy caused by a combination of bad motion capture and the overall badness of the PS2 rendering engine. Twitchtwitchtwitch.

 

You're absolutely right. "Arcade" has become something of a bad word nowadays. Games like Gran Tourismo and Metal Gear Solid are terrific, but they've ruined it for oldskool arcade play. Sometimes you just want a quick fix without spending weeks uncovering easter eggs.
