Possible UK VF5 Gamerbase Reading meet!!!

HI guys

Although I did say I was going to quit VF I still find myself playing it every now and then. Anyway A new Gamerbase has just opened up in Reading and is very nicely setup for potential meets and tourneys.

The venue is only 5 min walk from Reading station

I have just organized a small SF4 meet next Saturday. After this meet I was wondering if you guys were interested in a meet/tourney sometime in the near future?

I always wanted to help th UK's VF community but because of were I live I could never helpout. Now with a venue so close to my house and I have a little help from the staff here at Gamerbase I can setup meets and tournaments here in Reading.

What are your thoughts on this?

Ahh nice! sadly I can't make it to this as its too short of notice, and Ive got a lot of work to be doing.

Hopefully if I'm at home when you do another meet I can make it, its only a short train ride for me from home.

Actually after reading my post and title it does sound like I'm having a VF meet next week. lol

This venue is only a few weeks old so word hasn't gotten out yet this place exists in Reading. What I'm doing next Saturday is I'm actually holding a gamers meet in Reading to bring out the hidden community in and around Reading using SF4 and other games as bait to bring in the players.

If the UK VF players are up for it then I could arrange a tournament/meet at some point and give them plenty of notice. I'm still in the planning stage for a possible VF meet.

The scene is pretty much dead here now. Nobody plays and I honestly don't have time to devote to play VF at the moment. It's a shame really...

Do you have any new people up in reading interested at all?

I figured as much... But you can't say I didn't try though.

No new VF people just SF players.

VF being my favourite fighting game I figured that with a new venue opened up in my area I can be a lot more helpful now to the dieing UK VF community... I guess the only way VF will ever come back is if the the next edition of VF was to come out on console but you and I know Sega that's a distant dream...

Now that I know for certain now VF im more or less dead here in the UK I'm going to concentrate on other games now like Street Fighter 4 and the upcoming Tekken 6.

If a future edition of VF ever makes it to console expect an announcement from me as I will setup/host a VF party!!!

To all posters thank you for your feedback it has all been very helpful. Anyone in the Reading on Saturday come in to Gamerbase between 12-8pm and say hello and have a few games of SF4 here.

I am interested in a VF meet, even if its just to meet up and have a laugh. I am not really keen on a turnament type of thing where the winner wins a melted chocolate cookie. I dont want to sweat and have nightmares the night before coming down.

Also I would have to come all the way from Cardiff, so either we meet during the day, or I would have to stay for the night.

If I did hold a VF meet it would be all on me. All the players would have to do is just get to Reading and get to the venue between 12 and 8pm. Thats how I would set it up. I would hold a small tournament if the numbers are high enough. Nothing big just a small meeting.

What Jide was referring to was if there any players I have met at Gamerbase. So far all I have met at the moment are SF players no VF players.

Now that this venue is open to me I will always push for a VF meet but if the majority of players can't be bothered I'm not going to waste my time or money to hold a meet.

I already know I can count on Marlyjay, Monkey Punch and a few others to attend I just need a few more players to say Yes I can come.

To all VF players if I said I planned on having a meet somewhere around the end of October to December on one weekend how many of you would attend? There is no entrance fee just get yourself down to Reading, would you come?

I and a few others would like to see this meet happen the question is do these players want to come down to Reading to play 8 hours of free VF. That is the question.

Hi Mark,

This is really kind of you to do this. I have to echo Jide's sentiments though in that I am really pressed for time at the mo and can't devote hardly any time to vf nowadays (even other games )
I'm sure the new players will definitely be up for it though, hope you get enough interest and if the date is posted enough in advance maybe I can try and make it down

I would like to see it happen but it's looking grim at the moment not enough heads!!! I only have a few heads interested atm so it's not looking too good. But I'm keeping my hopes up so that more people will respond to this thread or Neo Empires thread with keen interest... until then got to keep my eyes open and wait .

I still consider myself a new player. I reckon a person is still a 'new' VF player for at least five years.
