This applies only for European players (I think...).

Final Fantasies (I would say most of them for psx and ps2, not sure though...)
Devil May Cry 1 and 2

There are more, I can't remember though, so please post some that you know. Thanks.

PS: Does anyone know if the .hack series for ps2 PAL version is using the "wonderful" 50hz mode only?

...and the point of this would be?

I think you'll find there's too many to bother mentioning.

Again, if you find it pointless, don't post.

Every game released is supposed to be at 60hz but only a minority of the PAL releases have the option to switch therefore it'd be alot easier to list the ones that do give you that option. For the PS2 the game accelerator can also be used to switch to 60hz for some games.

More games on the DC, GC and I think Xbox have 60hz options than on the PS2 and play in colour on non NTSC TV's. That something Id like to see Sony change with the PS3.

Dude, do YOU know what 50hz is? In the world of video gaming this means 50 frames (altho only every second line on non HDTV) per second. 50 of those pics flashing right up your face per second. Thats what it is. It doesnt matter if its blown up to the entire sky or squeezed down to the size of my dick (Hey I didn't say it's small), it's just the frame rate (duuudeee!!). Neither does it matter if the game runs as slow as the improving of my VF skills or as fast as my Space Plant time attack record in F-zero X.

    So dont over-interpret stuff /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif

    Anyways, to answer the question:
    F-zero
    F-zero X
    LO Zelda: Ocarina Of time
    LO Zelda: Majora's Mask
LO Zelda: A Link To The Past
LO Zelda: The Adventures of Link
LO Zelda: uuh, without any subtitle (yeah the first zelda)
    Mario 64
    1080 Snowboarding
WTF??? EVERY GOD DAMN N64 GAME and NES and SNES and PS1 (I guess) and mega drive (genesis for you yankees) and master system and saturn and philips cd and yeah... (and lots of other shite) games. And for the new consoles let's say MGS2 and Wave Race: Blue Storm. I guess all the virtua fighters before VF4 too.

Sorry I sort of had a failed out night tonight /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif I will probably edit this post to be nicer once I'm sober ;( This is just my agression acting out. Nothing personal

    Have a nice day //

How on Earth do you expect people to be able to list every PAL game? What you ask is completely ridiculous.

Would it not be easier to list PAL games that have a proper NTSC option?

    Only ones I know are:
    Psyvariar: Revision
    VF4 Evo

Why not import? If you are worried about poor 50hz versions of games dont buy them. When you talk about 60hz on a PS2 you are talking about NTSC format, the PS2 will not output a PAL 60hz image, the hardware will switch between PAL and NTSC depending on the software being used.

60Hz modes on my games :
    Psyvariar
    JakI
    JakII
    VF4 Evo
    Tekken4
    SCII
    Pro Evo3
    Onimusha2
    ICO (I think)
    GuiltyGear X2.

    That's about it.

I swear this is like the 3rd post on this subject by you. If you are that bothered - chip and import. That's what I do now.

    Cheers,

Frame rate IS important. Try playing VF at 50hz its like playing VF covered with treacle. Every one on this threads knows what 50hz means of course they do. Why else would they post here?

Heres an idea, play VF at 50 hz all you like then go to Japan and play in an arcade. You won't even have time to think and react as the speed is so much faster, you'd stand no chance against a good player.

If you're going to reply to a thread at least understand why you replying to a thread.

Sweet mother of God. Are you guys just playing plain dumb?

IF EVERY PAL GAME WAS 18% SLOWER THEN NO ONE WOULD BUY EUROPEAN GAMES. THINK WILL YA?

There are many PAL games whose speed is equivalent to NTSC ones. Other games are not. Games like VF4 have the 60hz option for THAT MATTER. Why is it there then. Because NTSC is uhhh cooler? THINK. I DO know what 50hz is. I do know what PAL is.
It's not the framerate I'm talking about. It's not the fact that 50hz kinda fucks your eyes more than 60hz does. It's the simple fact that SOME (NOT ALL) PAL (50HZ) games are affected in speed and image (I don't mean color here, but squeezed image).

Final Fantasy X PAL version is slower than the NTSC version. WOW. Games made in Europe are the same speed, here (in Europe) and there (Japan/US). WOW.

DOES MGS2 PAL VERSION PLAY SLOWER: FUCKING HELL NO!
So please, do me a small favor: just think before writing big-time crap. I'm not generalizing but some posts were plain useless crap. Like the last one.

Get a grip and think before answering. If you're that bad in math, you should study a little bit more. Thinking should be natural, if you can't think naturally and you're so lazy about the effort, then practise. It's useful for daily life. Thank you.

EDIT: Sorry LM AKIRA, didn't mean ur post. Meant another one.

Well was he specifically talking about ps2? Tons of gamecube and x-box games support PAL60 output.

Seijuro_Hiko you are unbelievably rude, dont expect me to reply in any manner to you again. You are not very clued up about video regions and the way the PS2 operates with regard to them judging from what you have written, so dont you dare call other people stupid for not understanding you: the confusion was due to the question you asked.

    You asked us:
"Post here every game released at 50hz when it's original speed is 60hz"
The way you have worded this question makes people who read it think that your are asking us to list every PAL game which originally ran at 60hz in it's native region which now runs at 50hz for the PAL release.
This is just about all games with very few exceptions, the only games I know of like this I listed correctly.

What you should have asked was:
"Which PAL PS2 games are optimised for the PAL format"
Very few of them are, your best bet is with games of European origin as they will likely have coded the game with the PAL format in mind - barely any games made in NTSC regions are correctly converted to PAL (hence the borders and slow speed)

The PS2 does not support PAL60 like the PAL Cube, and Xbox, a game will have to be coded with PAL format in mind from the start for best results. NTSC games which have a 60hz select mode are simply reverting back to the correct display mode (NTSC)

Take with that what you will - if I havent covered everything, forgive me I'm just an idiot.

Oops, my fault then. My apologies. But again, I'm refering to games like FFX and DMC. Purely slower and squeezed.

LM_Akira: Dude, what are you ranting about? /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif I never said frame rate is not important. The guy I replied to said something like "you know what 50 hz is? it means game slowdown and squeezed image". I just explained to him that thats bullshit. It doesnt matter if the picture is blown up or squeezed, if the game is slower or faster, 50 hz just means that the framerate is 50 pics (or half pics for interlacing) per second.

For VF4 evo and many other games running in 50hz is slower. This is because sega didn't implement frameskips or other means of compensating the lower frame rate. However, the lower frame rate itself doesn't mean the game is slower, or squeezed down or whatever. But once again, I never said its not important because some times it (very obviously) is.

Here's an Idea LM_akira: Go play 50hz sc2 all day long. Then go play in the japanese arcades (60hz) and have fun having no problem to play. NO SPEED DIFFERENCE MATE! Maybe the game is too fast anyway /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Seijuro_Hiko: Are you talking about my post or what? Perhaps you have misunderstood it. You're right about one thing tho: I didn't think before writing, because there is no thinking needed. It's pretty simple /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

You seem to be the somewhat lost person here. Saurian is right, are we supposed to say every damn game originally released in NA/japan and then later in PAL regions? Cus as far as I know every PAL game is 50hz (yeah many with 60hz option) no matter the actual game speed.

"IF EVERY PAL GAME WAS 18% SLOWER THEN NO ONE WOULD BUY EUROPEAN GAMES. THINK WILL YA?"
??? Noone would by european games? The vast majority of european gamers, and parents who buy games for their kids, don't even know that the games are 18% slower. And if they find out after being used to it, they probably don't care. So YES, everybody is bying european games with slowdown, and even more so before when 60hz modes weren't around. Just look at just about every frickin N64 game, they didn't sell worse because of slowdown. Heck, many SNES games have even more than 18% slowdown.

Saurian: I don't know if Namco are lying or just pulling off a bad joke, but Tekken4 sure tells me that it can be played in PAL60. I do know that the 60hz mode in VF4evo is NTSC and not PAL60. And when you are saying very few games are optimised for PAL format, do you mean very few PS2 games? Cus atleast the cube has plenty of them. Optimised for PAL60 that is, but it sure is PAL. PAL is the colour coding and not actually the frame rate (often misused). If you mean optimised for PAL in 50hz specifically, well then it depends what you mean by optimised. Slowdown to avoid frameskips? Frameskips to avoid slowdown? Or actual game engine speed-up to avoid both? The latter seems to be very difficult and is very rare in games. I think MGS2 for PS2 and Wave Race: Blue Storm for the gamecube are two of the very few games that do this. But im not 100% sure on that one /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It's not only the colours but also number of lines - 480 for NTSC and 575 for PAL IIRC.

Dude who the fuck are u???

    I don't play sc2 its shit (IMHO)

Everyone here knows what frame rate is. Why do u think everyone refers to moves in terms of frames.

50 hz VF evo and 60hz VF evo are conpletely different games.

Yeah 50hz doesn't mean slow down n squezzed pic thats something else.

Heres an idea, fuck off until you know what ur talking about.

I am KiwE's number 1 groupie. So you have almost 10 times as many posts here than I do? Thats powerful man...

Chill 'n peace out dude /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I had a hard childhood so I'm rude, okay sorry /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well anyway I know perfectly well what I'm talking about. The fact that you guys are talking about frames in VF moves doesn't mean you know crap about frame rates. A move is 13 frames no matter if you play in 50hz or 60hz.

You spoke of frame rates mattering as if it always were as it is in VF4 evo, so I gave you sc2 to show you that is not always like that. (Behold my pro english skillz).

Please eplain to me what it is that I dont know what I'm talking about.
