Capcom and Hardedge (german fighting game site) are currently giving prizes vor SF4 tutorialvideos, to get beginners to play SF4 more. (here in germany)

SF4 itself is pretty good, it reminds me of VF4 Evo with all those Challenges & Trial mode. Capcom is really supporting the SF4 community. I really really like that, that's why I'm currently playing SF4 mainly.

But since I won't leave VF and want to support the VF community more then I want to support the SF community. I thought what the SF4 community can do we can too!

I don't have any good connections to Sega but probably someone here in VFDC does. We could perhaps do a similar event here.

I don't really need any prizes to do the tutorial videos though.
I'm currently working with VDUB & Jahshaka and it's not that hard. After I'm finished with the SF4 tutorial video, I'll definilty make a tutorial video with Shun. Would be nice if some more would join in.

I am definitely planning to do tutorial videos myself, from "VF for dummies" kind of vids (there are 3 attack heights in VF..) to advanced (how to beat fuzzy guard..). How to play against certain characters, what are each characters useful moves and general strategies etc.

Ok.. Im dreaming of doing all that.

Anyway, what I perceive as a problem is that I have my video camcorder, but I cant direct capture from xbox and play at the same time. Direct capture would have much better picture quality and would not look so 'homemade'. But if its ok, I can use my video camcorder to film my TV-screen even though it looks so bad.. I have old tube TV as well, no HD or anything.

Of course there is the problem of no record mode too..

My problem is not capturing video, but capturing while playing at the same time. I would need to split it to both TV and PC capture card which I have no cablesplitter for currently.

I admit I havent tried capturing with my newly put together-PC. There might be some problems.

It's possible to play through HDMI and capture with component, right?

yeah I am fiddling with the idea myself. Just have to get a few things in place first with my life. Hopefully sometime in the middle of next month I may start posting things on my youtube page.

I think that if you really want to spend time on making tutorial videos you should opt for the best possible outcome. The technical equipment for capturing has to be on par for that task. Even if you can't or don't want to capture in HD, there are tons of capture cards that allow you to play and capture at the same time.

It would be sad if all the effort and time you put into capturing would restrict the outcome considerably due to technical shortcomings.

Well I won't pay 200€ for a capture card just to be able to play on my TV and capture at the same time in HDTV. But if you'r going to sponsor me I have nothing aginst it ;P

I didn't have that much problems doing cancels and links in VDUBs preview and the SF4 combos are really hell to input compared to VF5 combos.

Well it would of course sux for VS play. But I bought it just to make Replays to avi anyway.

Who was the person during 4EVO from this board who used to take Japanese .asx files that Sega would host and then insert text over the videos to show why the Japanese would do certain moves in certain situations.

The example would be like Akira vs Kage and Kage would throw out an unsafe move, the match would pause, and then text would appear explaining what options both characters had in that situation.

Creed and Myke did on each I think. I did an example one here..

Yeah the annotations speeds are a bit too fast but you get the general idea.

    Here

Lets say we get this ball rolling how would people prefer it to be structured. I was thinking about it too and maybe I thought I should make a video related to the vf system wiki.

There are cheap alternatives. Of course, capturing in high-def is pricey and, most of the time, not even necessary. Mind you that editing in high-def takes some horse power too. Standard-def capture devices are cheap (Pinnacle Dazzle for instance). Go for it!

Game wise you're absolutely top-notch - that's out of question. But bringing as many people to watch your tutorials and learn from them requires a decent technical execution of that project as well. Make your videos as appealing as they can be.

yeah that's exactly what I have been trying to figure out in my head. It's been hard trying to come up with universal ideas that will appeal to a large audience. Hopefully I can figure something out.

Im fairly certain that theres lot of potential people looking for tutorial vids. Other games have lot of them, its time that we make them for VF too. Im sad though if technical reasons become an obstacle though... I prefer some rather than none philosophy.
