Q-Games (pixeljunk, digidrive)

Pixeljunk eden - if you have a ps3, you NEED to at least play this demo off PSN. Having almost all of the controls mapped to one button is a little awkward at first. Once you get it (or at least tolerate it), this is one of the most innovative platformers i've played in years, with great graphics to boot.

Digidrive - if you have a gba, this is only like $9 at play-asia now. Figuring out how it works is part of the fun, so I don't want to spoil it, but its a seriously fast-paced puzzle game with real scoring depth. Heard the two-player vs mode is great, but havent tried it yet.

Also curious to see that they developed starfox command for the DS. I know that guy worked on old starfox games, but it still seems like a stretch from the other simple-but-deep games they've been doing.

 

Pretty much anything by Pixel Junk is gold on PSN atm.

pixeljunk is just the name of the series of games on psn. Q-Games http://www.q-games.com/ is the name of the developer. Not to be confused with q entertainment (guys who did rez, lumines etc).

I didn't really dig the demo for racers or monsters, but digidrive and eden are SO GOOD that I might have to give the others a second chance.

Haha, I'm definitely a member of the over-30 geezer crowd. Hunt the wumpus and Parsec were some of the first computer games I ever played, back on the old TI.

Sale on eden ends tomorrow I think, so go snag it.

 

Just a bump to note that pixeljunk eden Encore is out.

5 new levels, new music, new play mechanics (e.g. combo 3 seeds in a row, and all of the prowlers onscreen explode into pollen), and a new top sekrit bonus for completing the whole game.

Played through the first new level last night, seems like more of the same awesomeness.
