Q:How many frames/fields/hz do u hold for.......

    for a TAP turn in to a HOLD?
    [6] in to[6_]?
    sorry lame q but id liek to know
    an does it differ in diferent versions?

    I don't think the frame information for that is available, but 1/60ths site is the one place you might find it. If I had to guess I'd say at least ten frames. It might be different for different moves. For getting into a crouch so you can do a from crouch move, it is probably not the same as holding forward to get [6_][P]. You can buffer the F in F+P while doing another move but you cannot buffer a from crouch move by holding D during something else.

    Easy method to get round that is to QCF or you can start from [3],[6_] to save frames.

    Don't you mean [3][3][6] for QCF? That's actually not a QCF either come to think of it.

    QCF: [2][3][6] - no substitute
    [2_][6] = [3][3][6]

    I'm almost positive that as long as you don't input [6] and other buttons at the same time, it turns into [6_].

    After anymove, as long as you buffer in the [6] command, and keep it held down, it becomes [6_].

    For example, like Akira's [2_][6]+[P]+[K] being used, and then holding [6_] directly from it, and then pressing punch will give you a [6_][P]. But putting the stick in nuetral and then inputting [6][P] will result in the elbow, a very different effect.

    listen i know about this, im just askin' how many FRAMES is it till it turns in to a hold! hell if i was bothered i could work it out in training, but as i thought u all study frames u would know, obviusly not, i'll find out later
    just wanted to know out of curiosity:(

    The technique I'm describing doesn't use crouch dashes. Jacky has [P],[K] which will result in his two variables depending on which foot is forward but to get the [6_]+[P],[K] (the one that looks like Akira and Kage's [P],[K]) you have to hold forward which can waste frames depending on what move you want to punish. If you do[3],[6_]+[P] as soon as possible it works.

    Columbo, yeah that's well and good and I'm sure everyone understands what you're saying. Any [6] input that doesn't follow neutral will turn into [6_]. Using [3][6] is nice and practical, whereas [9][6] works too, yet isn't as 'natural' feeling.

    Getting back to the main topic, I don't think there's anything useful to be gained in knowing the exact frames for a [6] to turn into [6_]. The guy said he just wanted to know out of curiosity, but if there's another reason then I'd like to hear it.

    I'm gonna go out on a limb and say one frame... cause if you look at the input display in training mode .. take akira's knee.. you can do the knee successfully if the [K] is held for only 2 frames. So in this case the [K] turns into a held down input after the first frame. I'm going to say (assume) that this applies for directional input as well. So after the first frame of [6], as long as the direction is not changed it becomes a [6_]. But really, if you held down [6], you really did [6_] instead..

    I don't know... if the [6] turned into [6_] after one frame, then for example, Jacky's [6][P] elbow would very often come out as his [6_][P] moving forward jab, no?

    On 1/60, There is something in Jeff's movelist that suggests that [6] turns into [6_] after 9 frames:

    This refers to his upper kick (or standing kick), modified by moving forward. The Command column reads:
    "(To lever 6 input of 9 frames or more) + K"

    I assume this means that if you press forward and hit kick within 9 frames of the 'pressing forward', you get his knee, but if you hold it for 9 frames you get his walking upper kick (which, incidentally, seems to be only -1 on block, vs. -6 unmodified).

    I don't know if any of this makes sense, or if i'm reading it wrong, or if it's only specific to this move.

    P.S. sorry about the translation... i think sometimes that babelfish's trabslations need translating.

    In the case of holding forward and turning [6]+[P] to [6_][P], I think it's dependent on the character and the move you are doing. For example, Jacky's [6]+[P] elbow will execute if you input and hold forward and input [P] within 7 frames. On 1/60 it's denoted by the number in the parenthesis. 6(7)+[P]. So in this case I would assume his [6_][P] will execute as long as you have held [6_] for at least 7 frames. In the case of Jeffery, like you said, Jeffery's [6_][K][G] would require 9 frames or more to execute that move. Although his knee is 6(7)+K. This is a special exception I think. I guess it's safe then to assume for [6_], the norm is 7 frames.
