Questions about Akira's moves

I have been playing with Akira off and on since he is a very good character. But I cant seem to grapple his 3 hit moves. I dont know their names but the commands are [2][K]+[G],[6][K], [4][6][P] and [3][K],[6][P],[4][6][6][P]+[K] and [P]+[K]+[G], [4][3][P]+[G], [2][4]or[6][P]

I just cant seem to get these moves to work, the first one i can do sometimes but it doesnt always work, and the second one hurts my hand after trying it more than a few times. The third one (I believe is the SPoD) is out of my range all together. I would like some advice on how to do these.

Sorry for not explaining it better, but I dont know the names of the moves.

These moves get asked about a lot (don't worry, I'm not saying "go search!") ... they're quite difficult with the exception of the first one.

For the first one: This is called "AS3" or akira special three. It's sometimes also called the fujin or axe blade combo in movelists.
Just do the moves quickly and don't screw up the b,f+P. It's easy to get sloppy and go to u/b instead of b or roll to forward instead of doing directly to forward. Be moderately quick and accurate.

The second combo is the DLC, and is nearly impossible on the pad for most players. DLC = Dragon Lance Combo.
The first two hits are easy... just df+K+G, return the stick back to the center, then f+P. You need to do this semi-quickly. The final hit is a bastard, you need to quickly enter b,f,f+P+K while akira is still doing the elbow (second part). There's very little time to enter the motion, and that's why having a stick is handy.. you can whip it back and forth easily. The trick that made this combo easier for me is to really focus on 2 things: 1. After f+P, make sure you bring the stick allll the way back, if you get lazy you might go from forward, to center, then to forward again without ever hitting the back direction (which is required).
    2. When entering the final f,f+P+K make sure you don't sort of blur the two forwards together. You need to go from forward, back to center, then press f+P+K.

The third combo is called the SPoD, aka Stun Palm of Doom.
The hard part in this one is the second part, though a lot of people have trouble with the third. The entire motion must be done in sixty frames, which is exactly 1 second. The part to focus on is to hit P+K+G, then back... don't blur them together and enter b+P+K+G (which makes akira do his funny looking sabaki). Press P+K+G, release the buttons, THEN press back on the controller and whip over to df+P+G to make the second hit work. This must be done very, very quickly. The final hit is easy and can be pretty much spazzed... tap or roll the stick to forward or back and press punch.

Hey thanks, that should be helpful. I have been having trouble, I think I just get excited and press the buttons too fast. But that should help.

But another thing... Where you saying that if I have an arcade style pad? One with a stick and the four main buttons? Because I use the PS2 controller, it seems easier for me. But maybe I should go out and get an Arcade stick. From what I've heard, it seems like its easier to use.

But thanks for your help, again...

I'm a pad user, not out of any special love for the pad but because I'm too lazy/poor to get a good stick. Also I've gotten good enough at the pad to do damn near anything.

But the three things I can't do with a pad: DLC, SPoD, modified double palm. I can get any one of these 1/10 times, but that's not good enough for competitive play. Thankfully the DLC is pretty much inferior to the AS3 anyway, which I can do all day (and you can too, just practice)

Mate, just keep practicing and you're get it, don't gave up. All of Akira's moves are possible with the pad even the bloody knee now. I am now even glad to say that single double palm coubo is also do able with me but with a slight delay in between. Still working at it and hopefully getting more second nature with Mr. Badass. But the knee is still the hardest to get out on demand but all the rest of Akira's 3 major combos are do able now with a pad. A few advices; try broking in your pad more so when you pressing on the buttons and directional pad it won't stall you from your fellowing up move. Lastly you have to be accurate because speed is useless if you're pressing the buttons and direction at the wrong time on the pad. If you want more help with your development of Akira, PM akirazero he is the guy with best excution of all his moves. /versus/images/icons/cool.gif

Thanks, thats helpful. I will make sure to practice those moves more so I can bring them out on command. I will also see to maybe buying a joystick instead of going with my controller to get used to arcade play. I need somebody to challange who is actually good at this game.

Hey, I was practicing these moves earlier today, and I was getting them off good. About 5/10 times I would do it. The Dragon Lance combo comes out easier now, but the SPoD still is hard. And for some reason I still cant get the AS3 to go, but im working on it.

But these moves seem to be much easier, and all other moves come out easier too. Thanks for your help.

the AS3 is simple, just don't roll or blur your hands all over the controller. you don't have to do it fast at all, only semi-fast, which is the reason i used to mess it up. I was sacrificing accuracy for speed and you don't really need much speed for the AS3.

This topic kind of died over a month ago. And I already know how to do all the moves for Akira (minus the knee, damn split second crap) but dont reply to stuff that is so old.

    Thanks anyways.

Calvin, Stop spamming the boards. I see you posting useless tidbits of information that is just filling up this place. I dont need to know your little 'ok' for recognition or anything. Just dont say it unless it is relavent to the topic. SO STOP SPAMMING. /versus/images/icons/mad.gif

you can't do those moves on a pad creed?!?!
wow! i can do all three consistantly (at least 95%) with the pad. i don't have a stick (nor do i care for one) and can do these moves great, it just takes lots of practice.

About how much practice, and how do you do them gm? I dont really play Akira that much, (just a few kumite matches every so often) and I mostly play him in Free Training. But it would be nice to get his DLC or AS3 into a combo once and a while. The most I can get is really just the first two hits of the AS3, then it stops. Advice would be appreciated!

Dude, I already said what you told me. I said I would get excited and into the match and not be able to do the move, essentially covering what you told me.

But the fact of the matter is that you replied to a topic over a month old. And you really didnt tell me anything new. Basically you repeated what someone else said, in a different fasion. And I do know how to do the moves, and I did know how to do the moves even before I posted this topic, I just wasnt good at executing the move. So I asked gamemaster how he did the move on a pad 95% of the time, which I havent gotten a hold of a stick yet.

Dont take it so seriously, its only a game. There is no reason to get all wound up over something as small as a move in a game. Just dont reply to topics that are so old. Plus, I already got my answer before you posted your advice. Now Im asking GM how he does it so well. So settle down, and mellow out man! /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

    how much practice?
the best answer is until you can do them at least 9 times out of ten in a heated match without thinking too much. /versus/images/icons/wink.gif
and calvin, mellow. and quit spamming.
