Bernie Mac, the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actor and comedian who worked his way to Hollywood success from an impoverished upbringing on Chicago’s South Side, died Saturday at age 50.

50 is really young. It's sad news but whats more sad is alot of people will mourn for a few hours or days but then go back to their lives not thinking a thing about what life really means. If people in general valued it more, they would probably be nicer to each other and take better care of themselves.

so true LA... Now that I am in my 30's and getting older it's finally starting to click to me how valuable and short life really is. I remember when adults would always tell me things like "your body is your temple, take care of it or you will regret it!". It's now that I am starting to understand the value of phrases like that and I am trying to change many things about myself. This goes back to what EVERYONE always says about their life as a new chapter unfolds... "if only I had the knowledge I have now back then....(everyone always ends it differently)" When you are young you feel invincible and could care less about how beautiful living truly is. To a young person, living is just having fun, living off of mommy and daddy and taking TIME as a whole for granted. This is no attack on anyone in particular because when I was a kid I did it too. I think society needs to put a little more effort in terms of teaching young people just how fragile life is. It would also help if we could get the whole teen pregnancy thing under control because babies having babies is not helping the situation. How can a child teach another child the value of life when they haven't even discovered it for themselves. The only thing they have uncovered is leaving their babies at home with grandma so they can get liquored up, make a booty call or smoke some weed(no offense to my weed smoking homies).

I just wish people would see life for what it really is.
