Rating the LADIES of VF! From best to not the best!

    Quick and to the point!
From best to not the best...in my personal opinion.

    1. Sarah

Flamingo gives her the ability to do high damage in a split second! She also has a multitude of ways to enter Flamingo at plus frames, which create an immediate threat that the opponent must respect at the very least! Her oki on wake up is varied and very potent, and her otg game adds another layer of guessing that even top tiers such as Akira don't possess!

    2. Pai

Pai is the the fighting game equivalent of death by a thousand cuts! With her 11 Frame P, quick pokes, low attacks, low throws, distance management and varied strings....she creates a mixture of irritation, pace control and pressured offense that will make even the best defensive player reconsider whether their normal defensive construct is enough to get the victory!

    3. Aoi

With perhaps the best sweep in the game....Aoi makes the most fast paced player slow down! Tenchi stance forces a player to play completely different than usual, all while closing the distance with punch strings that can be canceled at different points into throws, mid and high follow up attacks, or the start of another flowchart that's simply difficult to read. Her wall game is underrated in my opinion, and her ability to disrupt a players timing is key to her overall strength! Moves such as 43P, 2K+G (which can be canceled into tenchi on block) give her a mix of almost similaltaneous defense and offense unlike any other character!

    4. Vanessa

I honestly have a difficult time putting Vanessa ahead of Eileen, but the Japanese seem to believe that this is the case.....so I will pretend to fully understand why! Lol!
Vanessa is a jack of all trades but a master of none! I often refer to her as having a nerfed version of everything. An example would be her 66P in offensive stance that isn't as threatening as Jean's 66P. Or her intercept stance that isn't quite as threatening as Shun when he's on the ground. A character with 1P in defensive stance to deal with P and 2P, a sweep that has a built in fuzzy and does 30 points of damage on counter hit, low throws, 8 overall hit throws, a 10 frame punch in close range, and a neutral parry to help deal with opponents that commence their offense with P....Vanessa is versatility at it's finest! Her move set calls for precision and careful consideration of risk due to her lightweight, but her ability to have an answer in most, if not all situations make her a force to be reckoned with when played creatively. The only character that is a true 2 in 1 gives you endless options on offense and defense!

    5. Eileen

The VF version of a degenerate monster (shout out to Harpooneer), is without a doubt the most infuriating character here in the U.S! Lol! (Shout out to Tricky)

Her 11 Frame punch, and seemingly unlimited string combinations give Eileen a level of unpredictability that open up offensive doors that would otherwise be closed! What she lacks in defensive options she more than makes up for in push back sequences, wall set ups, evasiveness when necessary, and pressure. Eileen players are also afforded an incredible advantage that goes beyond frame stats, technique or tier lists. With few high level Eileens comes the element of surprise! It's generally very difficult to deal with a character when you're not exposed to that character very much! This lends to an edge for anyone willing to take this mix up heavy lightweight to a high level! Eileen's strengths come from an ability to use off rhythm patterns and sequences that cause hesitation and doubt; All while pushing her opponent into a position of disadvantage. A challenging character not fit for the faint of heart, but rewarding once mastered and understood!

My ratings are based on two young players that I know that use primarily the ladies of VF. I've tried to convince these two players to get into ranked in VF5US because I believe they are phenomenal. I've never seen the ladies used the way these two players use them. So my rating are based on my observation of their game play:LOL:

    1. Aoi I've seen her played using her defense as the most amazing offense:ROTFL: I swear I've seen her win matches with reversals only

    2. Eileen mixups beyond belief and in the right hands, is some scary $h#t

    3. Vanessa One of these young players has a Vanessa pressure game that I've never seen before. And I've seen a lot of VF;) Imagine Vanessa imitating Jean imitating Akira's best rush down:cautious:

    4. Pai

    5. Sarah

Hopefully I'll convince the young players to come out of the VF closet (so to speak) and either publish some of their matches on Youtube, or out right get into Rank and climb as high as they can against competition they aren't used to. But suffice it to say., They are monster Aoi, Eileen, and Vanessa players unlike anything I've seen before:holla:

BTW both players are under 20 hears old and have been playing VF at least for 10 years maybe more. You do the math;)

The ratings below is my own biased opinion from just watching tournaments in Japan. So not neccessarily based on the innate strength of the characters, but more so the strength of the players playing them.

    1. Pai - 3 of the 8 pro-licensed VF players use Pai: Kamereon, Shiwa, and Bita (formerly known as Chibitarou). That is more Pai players than Jacky players (Janne and Tonchan)!

    2. Vanessa - may be the most difficult of the 5 characters to learn to play, but Vanessa mains Shark, Kiriko, Samejima are frequently in the top spots of tournaments and qualifying in the Challenge Cup finals.

    3. Sarah - YOU, Julietta, and Kyou-chan. YOU finished in the top 8 in EVO Japan. By the way, I think Kyou-chan's main is Sarah, but I have seen him switch between Vanessa and Pai in tournaments. He also have the other 2 ladies with god ranks in VF5US.

    4. Eileen - Umecchi's outsanding play/success with Eileen--one of the the least played character in the game--brings Eileen out from the usual last place in most if not all rankings of character.

    5. Aoi - does not mean Aoi is weak (I have trouble against her!), but since Ultimate Showdown's release brought new life to the game, I have not seen Aoi players succeeding more than the other players at the higher end of tournaments. Koufumegane and Ekimae are up there though!

This could be as accurate a representation of where the ladies truly rank than anything else. There's an old saying that states...""Men lie, Women lie, but Numbers don't!"" With that said...... and the fact that you put my main character in the #2 spot, I happily embrace this rating. Lol!

Great detailed post. Interesting you would put Vanessa below Eileen. I don't know enough about the strengths and weaknesses of the females to rank them but Sarah and Pai definitely give me the most trouble of the 5.

I'd be interested to know how you would rank the males of VF.

If she was at #5, I can blame her tier position for my scrubby play :D.

BTW, imo, VF tiers is more of a fun coffee table discussion. Rather than the innate strength of your character choice, your success in the game is predominantly determined by your skill level and your opponent skill level/knowledge of your character.

All VF girls are awesome and brought something original to the table. who's my favorites is something i don't think much about, maybe Sarah is my favorite, then Vanessa Pai and Aoi after very tie inbetween, and finally Eileen. I can't wait for VF6 and see how all of them will look and evolve in the future game.

    2. Eileen - cancels master
    3. Vanessa - two in one master
    4. Pai - discount lau
    5. Sarah - discount Jacky

Oh man! Ranking the males would take me forever! Lol! Only thing I could say for sure is that Jacky and Akira get the top spots!
