Realism and Juggles

    I was unsure if I should make this topic because I'm sure its not a new topic around the VF scene...But a quick search came up empty and I'm interested in your thoughts about juggles in VF5...

    My thoughts:

    Before I got this game I was under the impression that Virtua Fighter was a sim fighter..But when I got the game and watched a few high level videos on youtube, I noticed that there are juggles, its more like mini juggles, not as big as other games like tekken but juggles none the less...

    The way I see it these mini juggles in VF5 are cool looking and I enjoy doing them, getting max damage and playing to win..The juggles can stay, I'm fine with them and embrace them..

    But I would prefer the juggles to be removed completely from the game...I understand the marketing behind it but it would be nice to have VF more realistic..

    What do you think?

    Hey welcome to VFDC.

    As for juggles, I guess it's kind of a way to allow a succession of hits after an initial one. If you watch some matches of Final Showdown vs Taka, there's some cool combos that are done on him that aren't juggles, I'd much prefer it if the games were like that vs all characters, but I don't mind juggling too much.

    In the end it's just a video game, and it provides exaggerated visuals. Punch somebody so hard they fly up in the air!

    From this topic of your post, I do agree with you on having air juggles removed from this game, perhaps having an option to. It would make some diversity on the redundancy that is normally seen.

    Fortuantely for me, the Bushido Blade series doesn't have that. Less flashy or realistic types are what I prefer.

    Yeah its kinda like some martial arts movies that mix realism with a little over the top-ness... I'm just glad the juggles are small.


    I was thinking of that to but doing so could split VF player and cause problems.

    I've never seen much point in making video games too realistic, to me they provide a form of escapism.

    Make a fighting game too realistic and you'd probably just end up with a mundane game no one would want to play. I can't think how they'd make it fun to play at all.

    Also, I tried to 10 foot toss someone once, that shit don't work in real life ...glad I have video games [​IMG]

    Realism isn't good or bad in itself. Fun is fun.

    And "fight sim" doesn't even come close to describing Virtua Fighter. It would have to ditch the third-person perspective, among many other things, in order for it to qualify.

    I strongly support this idea. it would be nice to just have low floats. I think it looks stupid when you punch somebody's feet in mid-air. for the purpose of the game, it works, but in the future it would be nice to see more realistic combos.
