Rochester Revival Movies

Hey all I got the first batch of movies from Revival. I have really bad luck with the computers down at the lab, but I think I managed to get decent quality and decent size. If you guys want better quality just let me know but I tried to keep them somewhat reasonable to download.

And to all who were there: There's a lot of matches to go through between the freeplay, ironman, and double elimination, so if there are any particular matches that you want me to put up here let me know. (Since it would be kinda rude for me to post 50 movies of me kicking Super's ass all over the place) /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

The movies so far (all from the winner's bracket):

BMF Vs Llanfair (2-0) (First Round Double Elimination)
Reno Vs Super Golden (1-2) (First Round Double Elimination)
BMF Vs Namflow (0-2) (Second Round Double Elimination)

Let me know how they work. It takes 20 some minutes to convert 4 meesley minutes worth of video /versus/images/icons/frown.gif. Stupid computers in the lab. Oh well, I'll convert some more tomorrow night after classes probablly. See ya all!

ps - looking at them here the video quality of the bmf vs llanfair match isn't as good as the others, but its still very much watchable. Enjoy!

Nice movies but who was contolling Akira?Where are his big hitting combos and reversals and how was he a grandmaster rank with a fight average that was pretty poor to say the least?Looking forward to more videos though.

 

The rankings are useless, and so is the win%. Why, because the the ranking was gamesharked (all us TO people wanted to have all the items and colours for our VS. characters) -- and as for the win%.... we only VS with a small group on the PS2 in TO. So, even though I think we're decent players you won't see a win% much higher than say 65% on a TO player that has a reasonable number of fights on that character.

Plz do not watch a clip n judge the person's skills~

Yea I'd have to say its hard to judge how good a person is just from one video. And as far as the big combos go, its a tournament, not a combo exhibition. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

No new movies for tonight cause I went to the lab and some dude was using the only VHS to computer station to record some dude on an unicycle and I ask the lady "How long is it going to be in use?" and shes like "overnight" and its like 7:00 and the place is open until 10, so that's like 3 hours this dude is hogging the machine. /versus/images/icons/frown.gif Oh well, more movies tomorrow since I reserved the machine. And either .avi or .wmv this time!

 

That was BMF playing as Akira.. Did you see the match of him vs Llanfair? It's quite impressive, and shows BMF's skills: notice all the modified double palms and the well timed throws... Wins like that over Llanfair are not easy...

And as for the win percentage I don't think anyone was really high besides Namflow's... I was hovering a little above or below 50% the whole time...

We'll have more movies up tomorrow (actually reserved time on the machine so no one can hog it)! Do to popular request we are going to aim for AVI this time...

So great that you guys have local facilities to capture stuff! /versus/images/icons/smile.gif The match of BMF vs me was an outright exhibition of BMF kicking my ass. He was all over me from the start and I couldn't guess right to save my life - kudos to him.

Good show Goldens, keep em coming. NA content is always pretty low, so the more the merrier /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

/versus/images/icons/blush.gif Yeah yeah sorry for judging your Akira play a bit harshly.I'm use to seeing computer Akira wipe the floor with people and I was under the impression from a mate of mine that all top Akira players are more or less untouchable.Obviously he does n't know what he's talking about ( he's a Jacky player any way ).Sorry if I offended anyone.

 

hey man don't worry about it, I'm sure you didn't mean any harm. But it can be really hard to judge how good someone is from one video or two. Like when I play super sometimes the matches look really boring, but thats just cause we've played against eachother so much the matches can sometimes boil down like that.

I'm pretty much just grabbing the matches in order of the tapes. Next time I'm there I'll start on grabbing each player's ironman matches and maybe a round or two more from the double elimination. Enjoy!

Am I the only one who finds watching these painful? I've seen somewhere around 50 throw counterable moves I block, but don't throw after... I'm screaming "throw!" at the screen heh...

That and I didn't name that Lau thinking people would see me play as him!

very often...one saves the clip after a match, thinking ' oh lord..what a great game it was!!!!'

Then they go back n view it n go ' OH DOH!'

However, clips as these serves a purpose as well....

It allows viewers to test their knowledge of what to do, what not to do...(well..this is how I watch these clips anyway)

Also, it allows others to see the difference in the style of their characters being used by others.

Generally...I feel that whenever someone puts up a clip, they hope to be able to entertain viewers.

So, yeah..even though I go ' good lord! why he do that!!!!' at the end of the day, these clips helps to reinforce what to do, not to do and has entertained me~

So it's all good.

well I mean, its a lot easier to watch a clip and say "Wow, lion keeps getting away with the FC uppercut, I should have thrown him!" or something like that, but its a lot different when your in a tournament playing it right there, it can be hard to see things. I mean I'm sure all of us can look back on these tapes and see things we missed that look obvious sitting back here, but its a whole different ballgame when your there.

Besides, we entered the tournament to have fun and get some competition in, if we mess something up or miss something that might seem obvious, so what? Its not like I'm only going to post the videos where I escape every throw and have perfect execution on every combo I do, since I'm certainly not perfect at all. Ya know?

That's exactly what I was thinking! Very, very painful for me to watch. Lost count on how many times I hopped by accident, missed SPoD's, abused the charge attack...etc...stuff that I rarely do when I'm relaxed. I even remember kbcat asking me if I was alright a couple times. I think that the whole trip was a good learning experience for me and now I can't wait till we get to play each other again.
