Sega to reveal Capcom vs Sega fighter at TGS?

According to the blog, Protodude, Sega is set to announce a new fighter cross over game with Capcom. The information was given out by an anonymous source:

Earlier today, I received word from an anonymous source that both Capcom and SEGA are set to unveil a cross over title during the Tokyo Game Show festivities dubbed, “SEGA vs. Capcom: Great Clash Generation.”The game is described as a “hybrid RPG-fighting game” coming out on the Nintendo DS in Q1 2009 with a “likely” PSP port later in the new year.

Capcom has made quite a few cross-over fighting titles, such as the hugely popular Capcom vs SNK and Marvel vs Street Fighter games. But what is weird is that (apparently) Sega will be developing this cross-over. It’s weird, as I would have thought Capcom would be the most likely to make a game like this, with their previous experience.

SEGA is apparently heading the game’s development alongside Dimps. Capcom however will take on the role of supervisor.Anonymous did not have any knowledge as to who would make up the character roster, but did mention that Rockman and Sonic’s presence were a given.

Hmm. Perhaps Capcom thought Sega did a good job with Nintendo’s characters on Mario and Sonic Olympics.

Well, as TGS starts tomorrow, we should hopefully find out whether this is true within the next four days. If it is, it would be interesting to see Sega working with Capcom characters, also the DS is a bit of a weird choice for it.

It would be great to have a 3D fighter using Sega’s fighting franchises, like Virtua Fighter, Fighting Vipers, Last Bronx etc… rather than a 2D fighter. But as most of Capcom’s fighters have been 2D, who knows what might happen.

As always take rumors with a grain of salt but I can't help but think a Capcom vs Sega game is long overdo.

 

Heard about this too. As much as I love both, this has me kinda meh about it all. And if it is on DS, nearly zero interest from me on it :\

yeah same here. even though I love my psp, I dont want to play fighting games on that shit. Fighting Game/RPG sounds kind of lame too.

since sega owns the rights to guilty gear now (or something along those lines; this is all just hearsay anyways), maybe we'll see vf, gg, and sf all in the same game.
