Hey, I was just wondering if anyone knows at all where to find any recent (and decent LOL) media for SSF2 or HSF2?

Any links would be appreciated, cheers.

    A good site. Thanks.

Videos are pretty rare these days. We need a hardcore fighting retro site.

    HSF2 media

I'm sure there must be some media somewhere...I mean Shoryuken.com has leaderboard lists of SSF2Turbo players so presumably there must be some media of these matches somewhere...

    http://www.shoryuken.com/

On a random note, can someone look into this...

Using Turbo Ken, jump in with a fierce punch and as it connects go for a fierce hurricane kick. Now, vs most chars it'll do 3 hits or so, 4 if you're lucky but vs M.Bison it'll always do 5 hits (and chip damage is decent on it). If you try the same thing with Super or Super T Ken you'll only get 2 or 3 hits maybe and you obviously can't do the combo with WW or CE version.

So what's going on and why do you get 5 hits vs Bison (I tried it on most tall chars and you'll only get 3/4 hits)? What's special about Bison?

    Re: HSF2 media

Some characters are wider than others. Wider in the amount their hit-box extends out. So even if Bison gets pushed back from the hits the same as other characters, his hit-box may still be in the region of the attack in which case he gets hit.

mbison/vega has a large hitbox like dhalsim

you can do that punch air hurrican right again for a non combo that redizzys to be cheeky, but a HP,in2 hard DP is better, anyways, shame they took the suck out of the backward hurricane, its sucks in on snes turbo and arcade turbo!

Ah, cheers for the replies guys. I managed to do a similar thing with Akuma too...

Jump in Air fireball > Hurricane kick

tho the timing on the fireball is awkward (due to the way it flies diagonally down) but I think with the right timing it's a true combo (not tested it too much tbh).

On a random note, here's a little faq I found about character differences in Hyper:

    http://www.gamefaqs.com

not much that most people won't know about but it's nice to have it up on screen for comparisons.

EDIT: Crap I can't link directly to the faq from here. I'm sure if you search for Hyper SF2 or something you'll be able to find it there.

if thats the faq, from gamefaqs, it must be the one that me and jericho was laughing about,

that guy dont know shit about streetfighter, also, every one knew of akumas dryness, just download a super turbo combo guide and learn all the 10hit combos.

Cool, I'll have a look for some of the guides.

The faq was basically listing differences of all the characters on Hyper, nothing more than that.

Oh here's a random question as well, when you select either Super or Super Turbo chars, you can hold down start and press X say to pick them and the sound is differnet to normal. SlimAdey was telling me you're actually picking different versions of chars besides the 5 sets already there. What's the differnence with these "new" fighters...oh and is there any reason to pick Super fighters ahead of Super Turbo ones? (I know WW and CE chars can do more damage/dizzy opponents easier etc and Turbo chars have new moves etc but why would you use Super chars over Super Turbo ones or anyone else?).

All I know is that when you hold start and select Super Turbo, you're picking the 'old' version of super turbo. Not the old version of the characters like you could in ST, but one difference I know is Chun-Li and E Honda can 'charge' their super. That is, charge b, f b f and keep holding forward, then upon pressing kick the super will come out.

I think this also lets you pick the 'old' version of the characters of Super Turbo if you do the same u/d or l/r jab thing after selecting the character. So... it'd be picking the old version of the old version of the new version of the old SF /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I dunno anything about the console versions, but in the arcades, the Old versions were often better. Eg. -

Old Ken - more inv frames on the dp
New Ken - all the new stuff, but weak dp

    Old THawk - poking monster
New THawk - his best pokes changed from mid->high. sux big time. must depend on the 720 super to win.

    Ahh right cheers.

I heard that the "hold start, select Super Turbo" Sagat was immense as he had loads of moves you could abuse and waste people with but I'll have a look into any other differences I can spot.

Start+Super Turbo: Old (most common) revision of ST where characters with charge super can hold the charge with [6], like Syiko said. There are no other differences that I know of.

Start+Super: OG characters from Super Turbo that you had to put in the [8][2][8][2] codes to get. They are redisigned old characters and are different from their Super and ST versions. They do not have super meters and cannot tech throws, but they have the purple Super Turbo logo to show they are from ST.

Start+Super is how you get the infamous O. Sagat, but he is toned down in this version. His low tigers have more recovery, similar to his ST incarnation. CE Sagat is considered the best Sagat in AE, as he still retains the super-fast recovery on his tigers, though he doesn't have other benifits of O. Sagat, such as having a cancelable standing short (something no other Sagat has).

If you guys are looking for a guide, I would strongly recommend the Brady Games guide.

Yes, I know, they've produced mostly crap in the past (like most American guide books). But this one is honestly the best American guide book I've ever seen. I kept coming back and reading it, and was surprised by how good the info was. I finally bought it when I realized that they got actual SF players to do different sections (guys like Mike Watson, Alex Valle, and John Choi).

Also, the Yang SF3 section took my Yang play above and beyond (just found it too time-consuming to sit and read thread after thread, and most faqs I've seen on him didn't tell me anything new).

My only two complaints about the guide are the cost ($20) and the lack of artwork. But, at Electronics Boutique, if you buy a game and the guidebook, you get 10% off of the game. EASILY this guidebook was worth the money imo. I recommend just flipping through it, or looking at your favorite characters a few times first, just in case the price is too steep. But I found it very informative.

I second afro's post. This was discussed somewhere else but to be sure, the Brady Guide is fantastic. It's definitely useful for advanced players, particularly the 3s part. it contains advanced strategies and setup individually tailored for all charas, such as ublockable Aegis Reflector set-ups for Urien etc. It is worth every penny. I love it.

    Re: HSF2

Some of the guys that wrote the guide wanted people who visit SRK who bought the guide to tell Brady your praise for the book. They wanted to get the feel of the old "Versus" books and show that hardcore gamers actually appreciate thorough anlyasis of frame data and expert technique and strategy.

Hopefully, Brady will keep up this quality in future guides and get guys who actually know their stuff.
