SF4 post your mains before the tiers!

Not sure if this topic is going to be allowed but I saw this on another forum a while back and thought it would be interesting to post here. Point of the topic is to post your mains in SF4 before the tier lists pop up so you can't be called a bandwagoner. Not that anyone here on VFDC would ever do that but it will also be cool to see who my fellow VF'ers are maining.

I've grown fond of Rufus. I have a thing for characters people hate, so as of now I think I will be maining Rufus, Balrog, Zangief and maybe Sagat ya know?

 

I might use Fei Long as my main but the thing is, I'm much better with Ken and Abel. I hate that they toned down Feilong so much...his new grab move is trash. I mean seriously it's useless. His damage scaling sucks near the end...I can get my opponents to low life. The hard part is finishing them off! They always manage to somehow beat me even after I've done several rekka ken combos. Ugh, I'm somewhat disappointed. He's got a good SA and his fire kick is pretty strong but that's it really. I wish his rekka ken punches had special properties like in SSF. I hope Capcom adds some updates to make the characters more balanced out.

 

Even though the Rekkaken punches have been toned down, Fei Long is beast from what I've seen. He can get his SA off of Tenshin > c mk/c mp > rekkashinken. The only way to play him effectively is to keep pressure on your opponent and making them choose whether or not to look for Tenshin.

 

Abel and Rose, looks like. I may still play Vega.

 

Before the tiers? This IS a half a year old game, you know...tiers are already out /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Granted, the latest Arcadia tiers differ a bit from previous ones.

Anyway, I'm playing Crimson Viper. And this was decided before I saw the latest tierlist (honest...) /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

 

I don't think I've actually seen the latest tier list. Anyone have a link?

 

Vega. And this is fully acknowledging he is the bottom tier guy (Dan doesn't count).

Sometimes I play Ken as well, and will for sure try out Abel and Fuerte. Whoever plays it on the PS3, I would appreciate if you added me for some matches =)

What exactly happened to Vega that dropped him down so hard?

 

His damage is too low and his stamina is almost as low as Akuma's. No good anti-air options either.

I have seen 4 different tier lists so far and with the exception of Sagat, Zangief and Claw, all characters have been in different classes and positions all over the list. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

 

I'd say Vega's somersault is a much better move and nets more damage especially the EX version. But other than that his Ultra and Super aren't that great and the reduced damage sky claw and izuna drop definitely hurt.

for me its Viper (i also decided this before any tier list mumbo hahah)
and Gief. Although i want to play Guile and maybe Sakura

I remember Viper being much lower, it seems one minute she's too strong, and then next needs to be buffed for console version..

I'm hoping someone plays Dan, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif makes me wonder if he was purposefully put in for the dummy in training mode and for the bottom of the tier list so no one can complain about there character being bottom.

 

I play Viper

her execution is tough and she's stylish, too fun to use. Reminds me of A3 A-Guy with the style and execution.

 

I believe it has low priority now though. And if you trade hits, you'll come off losing.

I agree his Ultra sucks to set up btw

 

Abel, Zangief and Rose, and I was saying that months ago.

 

I think I would like to play Akuma, Rufus, Zangief, or Abel at the moment, I have a big fetish with big guys but Akuma grabs my fancy because he's cool.

 

i'm loving abel! the grabs on him is crazy! i have to get use to doing combos on him in the future

 

lol Viper moved to top tier? she started at the bottom of the barrel lol.

I don't really plan on maining anyone yet it's too early to call just cuz I want to play with the cast right now. But my list in order so far is Viper, Sakura, Cammy, Rose.

anti-airs are a bitch in this game haven't figure out how to cleanly knock people out of the air except with rose so she's quickly becoming my favorite.

the console version is the same as arcade just fyi guys. No changes were made.

 

I would have to say Fei Long or Rose among the new people mainly Rose I love her Ultra as far as how useful it is. Among the original cast it will have to be Chun Li she has been a favorite of mine among all the characters in SF for a long time.
