SFIII: 3rd Strike on GGPO

I'm looking at this game and seeing a lot of what I like in fighting games and I'd like to start picking it up but the street fighter system has always been a little of a mystery to me.

Just wondering if anyone else here is on GGPO and if they'd like to get in games on 3S with me - keeping in mind that I am less than scrub.

I'd like to learn Dudley. He makes me laugh.

Definitely a good place to start, without having to dig through SRK and specific specifics. I barely know anything about dudley personally, except he's a monster when he has you in the corner.

yeah, I've been watching the tutorials and reading up. I've just been idling on GGPO and watching Japanese matches to get an idea of what's possible.

Looks like a fun game.

 

I play occasionally aswell although for some reason I can only watch at uni but not play which is incredibly annoying, I use Makoto and Yang

The Third Strike section at SRK is hit or miss depending on your character of choice. The Wiki is also down but once that gets back up you might as well take a quick glance.

If you're going to get into 3S then you need to watch everything you can get from The Shend. He has thousands of high level matches in his channel and loads of tutorial videos. He's like the 3S equivalent of Ogi.

Visual differences between normal throws and kara throws. Extremely important element of 3S is kara throwing.

One thing is that tiers are really, really bad in 3S, like so bad that in order for some characters to even get played they have to hold 'low tier' tournaments in Japan.

Instead of lurking and spectating matches on GGPO just use The Shend's channel and you can find, instantly, high level play of any character. Search for Kokujin Dudley on YouTube (he's the best Dudley player).

3S is fun up until you get to high levels, then half the cast becomes a punch bag for the top tier, and characters like Q or Sean become nearly unusable.
