Should I look for a used Dreamcast and Virtua Fighter 3tb?

Discussion in 'The Vault' started by Deleted member 7165, May 11, 2005.

  1. I'm feel like looking for a used Dreamcast (If I could find an affordable one) and a used Virtua Fighter 3tb.

Is Virtua Fighter 3tb worth playing?

I think that's a personal choice. It's certainly different than any incarnation of VF4.

My wife and I played VF3 (not tb) in the arcade every week for about 2 years (1996-98). We got a chance to play DC VF3tb within the last year at our house during a VF get together. It was cool for me because it brought back neat memories. It didn't hold my attention for more than a few fights, though. I went back to playing Evo for the rest of the evening.

If you're heavy into VF, it might be a cool thing just to have. But, hey, maybe you'll love the E button and the varied terrain and you'll play for hours and hours.

If you don't like it, I'm pretty sure you could sell the DC on ebay.

VF3 tb is the shit. I definitely recommend it. Do NOT get the PAL-version though.

Yeah, it was an excellent game. I remember playing that alot more then SC, even though all my friends found it boring. At least there was some good comp in the arcades. Anyway, get it , just be warned that it is very different from the other VFs.

There're many people on VF.com, myself included, who believe VF3's mechanics superior to VF4. I personally have a huge attachment to the game and think it's the best in the series.

The only trouble you might have is adjusting to the inferior visuals. Just remember this game was first released 1996 (I think) before you let that spoil your judgment. At the time they were ground breaking.

IMHO I think the Model 3 games stood the test of time as they're easily still more impressive than some games today. (save the odd skin tones on all characters)

graphic wise the DC port is a shame, at least compared to the AC version
vf3 is extremely beatifull even today on the AC, for me at least:)
it's my favorite part, my irrealistic dream is to get an orignal vf3 AC machine and scud race

Interesting thing is that many moves from VF3 is in Fighters Megamix for Saturn. This game was sort of introduction of VF3 gameplay, but also featured characters from Fighting Vipers. Im not saying it's better than VF3tb for DC, but it's an interesting game, and it's fun to play, even after all these years.

When I originally purchased it for the DC I was quite disappointed with it graphically. But its still a pretty good game. But man, better graphics would of been icing on the cake.

VF3 is, in my opinion, the most innovative and most hardcore episode of the VF series. VF4, and VF5 went back to the basics, to more VF2-dimensional gameplay mechanics. No other Virtua Fighter episode has been played as long in the Arcades as VF3.

Get a DC, 2 Sega Arcade Sticks, and rock it. I would recommend getting the US VF3 version. The JP version has bad shadows, and the PAL version only runs in 50 Hz if you connect it to a TV. If you use a monitor and VGA box, feel free to either use the US or PAL Version.

No idea. I suppose that the arcade stick itself is a Sanwa one, but the buttons may be generic made. I got two Dreamcas Agetec sticks, and I have never seen better produced ones for a console, except maybe the new High Grade stick by Sega. The High Grade and the Agetec have much in common.

    What you can expect:
The Agetec arcade stick for the DC is fitted with a steel plate at the bottom to give it a bit of weight which gives it that quality feel. There are also 4 sponge pads on the bottom that prevent the stick from sliding when you have it on a table top.

I know only that official Sega Dreamcast Stick was good but stick was too close to buttons, and whole machine was pretty so-so for me. I think buying arcade machine of VF3 is the only solution cause there is no single functional Dreamcast left in this world :p All Dreamcasts explode and cut you with it's laser, damage you with it's flying pieces, sends bombs on Iran, starts WWIII, kill your dog and start a global ecological disaster after two years of active utilization. Sad, isn't it? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

You must be mistaking that for the PS3 and even still it's overdoing it. PS3s can burn down forests whereas the most a 360 can do is cook eggs.

I've had my DC for years and it's been running great.

OK, so you're first /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif All people I know got problems with DC. It was not working after two years max. The laser was out after that time.

It's not the laser: mostly it's the GD-Rom, though it's not normal when it happens after 2 years. My two DCs (one is Japanese, the other one PAL) are working fine. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif
