Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. This time for at least a winner stays lobby with spectator mode built in?

I mean, the way I see it is this:
We all want to play with a bunch of our friends
We all want to coach newcomers when they get on...
We all want to show off our costumes
and We all just want to sit and watch other ppl beat other ppl up!

Every game that's succeeded with minimal complaints has had the essential winner stays lobby system with a built in spectator mode, and one thing I felt made VF5 fall short was the lack of a lobby system. I'm pretty sure SEGA knows that, but with possibly the exception of Sygyzy, they haven't considered adding it... so - do we make one? How do we voice that this is just as big a necessity as the VF4 Evo-esque training mode?

    Thoughts?

If it has an affect on the latency, I wouldn't be down with that.

    Otherwise, I can support that.

    My exact thought too.

In terms of offline stuff as that's what I mostly play, I would kill to be able to share my profile with P2 so they can at least use my custom characters. I realize the profile system of both PS3 and XBOX360 cause problems for this but there has to be some answer to it.

What they could possibly do is allow us to store a couple of characters online, the customization I mean. Store like 1 or 2 character designs online, so you can be at a friends house and just have them connect the game online and you can grab your creations.

Cause I gotta be honest, if I'm playing my own custom threaded character, I perform better.

It would be nice to have some new fancy modes but honestly I don't care how bare-bones the release would be, I'm just happy the game is coming out and that's more then enough to keep me content.

how are we gonna coach people when the game is laggy due to spectators. It's already bad enough online where even one frame of difference changes the tiers in the game.

why does lobbies automaticly mean lag? didn't blazblue get it right?

I've yet to see a perfect vf connection. Even playing in japan where the opponent was less than 50 miles away and we are both on fiber, there was at least 1 frame of lag. Dont want that or the chance of anymore.

well that problem existed before the implementation of lobbies, how do you automaticly tie it to that?

SSF4 has some sort of system where no matter what your connection, you don't slow the pace of the match down between others. What that results in is that same 1v1 connection you know and love but with others watching without pulling your bandwidth down

I don't see how having multiple connections wouldn't influence it. If, it does work, great, I'm for it but i've yet to see any fighting game lagless.

If lag problem cannot be solved completely, then might as well let online allow friends for keeping together with the lobbies. Seriously, its the other major problem VF5s current online has. Doesnt need to make bad problems worse but having an even simpler online features.

The other is not allowing the challenged player to cancel the match after you see the latency between you and a random opponent. Tekken 6 for example does this in a civil way, you see the latency bar but not your opponents name/rank/anything, and only after you accept the connection you get to see who you are playing against.

I dont know if spectator mode is crucial, but I would at least want the players the option to have a lobby and queue each others matches. Winner stays ofc. If they would use dedicated servers it might reduce lag compared to full peer-to-peer.

There are a number of major improvements that can be made over the vanilla VF5s UI and features. We should at least recap the ideas we have had so far so syzygy can hopefully relay them.

It'd be a nice addition but I wouldn't view it as a necessity. Then again, I have been playing VF5 ver.c for years now so I'm used to it.

I wouldnt bother about the lobby issue if I hadnt experienced the complete lack of players in VF online. Like all the players of Europe could fit into a single lobby?

I just hate that if I notice two of my friends playing player match online, I have little way of informing them that Im online so they just keep repeatedly challenging each other and I cant get in. Then one hour later I quit online in disgust. Lobby just makes so much sense when thinking about a group of friends. Id really want to push for it, even though I hate lag. Current online mode is not lagless so I think the question is moot. Of course it can get worse but..

Maybe we should submit a list of "community requests". One single list with lots of stuff rather than lots of different questions and we all sign it. Something like ; " I an ideal world the release of VF5:FS should have... " and a list with proper rational and possible benefits and consequences plainly and politely stated. Think they may be more likely to take note.

guys, I would like to see the AI mode return with greater emphasis, do you think its a reasonable request? we need to set down a minimum of 5 solid questions, like:

    training mode
    online
    quest
    customization
    events

We can request whatever we want. Be prepared for the answer no though. Having a good rational for each request will make the no less like though and might help convince someone higher up the chain to back that enthusiastic development team member who's trying to get extra stuff in.

OK, my rationale is this: they attempted a learning AI in VF2, and in VF4. I think its a fun meta-game that could lead to interesting developments, such as training an AI that you can make available to others to fight in your absence. like ghost mode in Tekken? I think it could be a good idea, maybe its stupid, I dont know

PS: think about it, I am already middle aged, it wont be long before my brain will turn to mush. you could still play my AI fighter's spam long after Im dead.

Is it possible that players who don't want a lobby can simply just choose not to play in one? The option of a lobby system would extend the life of the game, that's not my personal opinion, it's a fact. I'm all for a lobby if it means it wouldn't affect lag for matches that are one on one.

Tekken 6 has lobbies and a quick match feature. the quick matches are pretty good. You search and it matches you with someone else who is searching. you see the latency and can decline the match and keep searching or play the match. Would be perfect for VF.

Most of the people that complain about online VF will continue to complain about it with spectator mode or not. Add it, it will do more good for competition than not even if it's not perfect. Online warriors don't always make bad offline players believe it or not.
