So Taka is back...What about a Siba's comeback?

I never heard about this guy before! Who the hell was he? I found some pics:




Can someone explain why was he dropped out? What was his nationality/style/gameplay? Is there a chance for a comeback?

Look at the forst pick, he is named Akira, and Akira is the only char missing in the selection screen where all names are fucked up. Well it seems logical but maybe this is juste a whole fucked up other solution haha

 

He appears in Fighters Megamix on the Saturn as the boss of the Bosses course. He has a sword with and can use it in several unblockable and painful attacks. He plays more similar to Bahn out of Fighting Vipers than Akira.

I always thought he was the prototype character for VF.

 

Damn, look at the controls for 1P side. That's no bueno right there lol.

 

He was on Fighters megamix and had unblockable sword attacks. Also if you hit enough with it or you were hit hard enough the sword would sometimes break.

 

He was a handful as a fighter in the Megamix game with hard hits like Bahn. He should have came back in VF5 it would have been pretty good to see what style he would've had.

Siba sounds interesting and his sword breaking during fighting does sound pretty cool as well...

I wonder though, how would all of that work out if he were to be put back in VF?...It could be cool...?

From the looks of it (him being named Akira in one pic), he was an early prototype for Akira, later replaced by the design of the Akira we know and love today. Not sure how he played but I wouldn't be surprised if it was similar to how Akira played.

His Fighter's Megamix version was obviously created for that game specifically. It's not like he had a sword when they were designing him for VF after all.

Of course, I'm just speculating here, but I feel, based on the evidence, that it's a fairly good guess.

@Poppa-That makes sense, but if he was originally going to be based on Akira's style, then they'd have to bring him back with a new one...(assuming that they do so...)

Since we truly can't have a sword-wielder in VF(maybe? lol), maybe he could use something like...? Any ideas?

Well...after doing a quick google search for Middle Eastern fighting styles (since he has a clear Middle Eastern look going for him), I came up nothing and decided instead to search Indian fighting styles. I found this:

Which I think would fit well with him since it's also widely practised in Pakistan (according to the awesomeness that is Wikipedia) which would fit well with his design, although perhaps we have enough wrestling characters...Guess it depends on how different this style is to the others we have. Anyone know anything about this style?

EDIT: Just checked out some other Indian MAs and found these two:

Which "incorporates strikes, kicks, grappling, martial dance, and weaponry, as well as healing techniques." The most intriguing aspect being the martial dance. Again, I haven't actually seen this style so if anyone with more knowledge about it can enlighten me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Which seems to be a weapon based martial art, but one that heavily emphasizes movement and grace. Obviously, weapons would be out of the question for VF...

However, what I was thinking was to have a combination of all three. Think about it: a graceful Middle Eastern fighter who moves in a very dance-like fashion. Now THAT'S an interesting character!

I'm actually more suprised that they didn't include "Siba" as an alternate costume for Akira or give him the customizations to "create" Siba. After all, Siba is really just Akira unless they plan on making him a full on original character.

Siba didn't actually play like Akira at all in Fighters Megamix... he used more of a powerful strike/slam fighting style and didn't have many combo moves.

Yea I know that. I always heard he played like Bahn like SDS_Overfiend1 and some of the others said. I can't remember ever playing Fighters Megamix, unless it was in a department store, and so I was referring to his originally planned design, to basically "be" Akira.

I think SEGA is trying to put Siba into the game. They are still creating the character, the model, the costume, the quality and the command list. We just have to wait. I heard some of the Vf Fans want Siba comeback. Actually, Siba is an Arab elite soldier fights with traditional Pencak Silat and Middle East Sword Fencing. It is trained by the Arab soldier and horseman during the 7th century. If the Fans agree, maybe he will introduce in Virtua Fighter 6. Maybe he is a character played by begineers or a new challenger. We just don't know yet.
