Wolf has two different Giant Swings: One, shitty, slow, 11-frames, and doing 60dmg if teched. The other, 8 frames fast, cheap as hell, and doing 80dmg(40% of your lifebar, bitch). Knowing the difference isn't important unless you actually play Wolf, because, hell, you're getting your ass thrown all over the place either way.

STL has some new-ish blood, hence the new thread. Amibatman, stoned Shun from the same cul-de-sac as the legendary Shou. 4gotten_kazama, the weirdest, meanest fucking Akira in the US. Kara-Killer, an up and coming Lei who needs to learn to break throws(holyshit). And Greg, the third Sarah from STL.

Have you tried out the fuzzy guard practice in Evo? Evade double throw escape-guard practice? All of that stuff still applies and could harden up your defense a good bit, although it's nothing to obsess over. The same goes for everyone. Also, Steve, please learn the combos! Haha.

Rob: It's probably worth talking to SH_ from Ohio about Lei Fei and Brad a bit. He definitely won't mind answering your questions.

 

Yeah I know it still aplies but I suck at buffing some of the moves so its hard for me I will learn though I hve went through nall of that shit with Akira and I know about those tactics just never smart enough to apply them cause didnt think it would be that bothersome

Beating Screw Hook

Screw hook is a 14f half-circular special mid(-10 on gaurd), with a quick high (linear?) followup with a weird hitbox that can hit attacks to the side and even from behind after an evade(wtf!). Crouch-gaurding screw hook leaves wolf at -5, but the followup is still gauranteed since the gaurd animation forces you to stand, and the second hit of the string cancels the recovery of the first attack(this is how all strings work in VF), and it's not as hard as it looks to hit check. Since it's not all that fun to evade screw hook(though this response is probably ideal if you wait for me to do the second attack and then punish), your best bet is to just gaurd it standing like any other mid, and fuzzy under the followup. If the followup whiffs it looks like most characters can get a small launcher if you're on the up-and-up, and at the very least a gauranteed throw attempt or .

For ex: Akira might be able to get st.palm or double palm, or hell, even shoulder ram. Sarah could probably get or . Jacky could probably get . Kage might get Yougeki or . Goh , etc. I'm not sure about Vanessa or Lei Fei, though.

If you discourage me from doing the second hit, then the situation becomes a bit better. You probably won't be able to get the gauranteed throw all the time in the -10 situation after gaurding the first hit, since I will still do the second hit on occasion to throw you off, so it'd probably be best to treat the situation carefully from time to time, quickly ducking under the possible second hit each time, and then responding as if you had a small frame advantage.

It's also important to note that Wolf's low kick and short shoulder are quite punishable on gaurd(-14), and Grizzly Lariat, Wolf's sweep, is -26, which means most big launchers are gauranteed.

Rob - Lei showed a lot of improvement. Mix it up a bit more and your offense will be extremely hard to follow.

Steve - It looked like Goh kept improving throughout the night. Don't be afraid to just throw or play the close poking game.

 

Just wanted to pop in and say thankyou to all who attended. I had a great time and hopefully we can get things a little more organized next time, so there is more playtime. Now on to props..

I like your lei-fei, because it's different from what I have always seen. Please stay that way and never change. As far as the canceling goes you just need to be percise in the time that you input the command for each stance. Yes, when I first atempted the technique I would often get frustrated as to why it would go into a move as opposed to another stance. Simply put, I just watch my own hands as I preformed the move and noticed I wasn't inputing correctly between stances. Knowing this, I would have to say it's a good technique, but in reality you really need to know what all the stance properties do to make it works as a whole. I wouldn't really base your game around it, but a small portion at certain times works. Good games and no I am not looking forward to you and steve handing me my ass in slash next week, lol.

Your jacky has alot of potential. You have already seen and played against one of the best jacky's in the world, so that should be your big motivator. Just practice like a demon hungry for souls and you'll be good to go. Don't worry, your jacky will come along smoothly and with that handing out tissues for the tears. Please contact Atlas with telepathy, a bird, or can and strings, so he can make it out to next weeks gathering, thanks.

Your vanessa suprises me all the time with reversals, evade body blows etc. You have a very good eye for reading your opponet. I still don't think I convinced you that vanessa is a feaking monster in this game, but it will slowly unfold for you as you learn what your options are in certain situations. I think the character vanessa herself is very complicated to use and takes alot of dedication as opposed to others, so I really respect that your learning her. Good games and see you next week.

I really expect alot from you seeing as your previous track record in other games is strong. I hope you stick with vf and become just as strong as you are as in other games. Roll up those sleeves and get cracking. Good games and see you next week.

Craziest akira with no set patterns hands down! You have set the stage for playing characters in a completely different manner and it's fun to watch and play against. Your switch up to goh is exciting for me, becuase it's all new and unexplored. I don't remember how many times you caught me with delayed catch throw, but it was timed right and always caught me off guard, good shit. I look forward to our next matches and keep practicing.

What can I say, but your wolf is a great challenege to play against. It really gives me the jitters just knowing the options he has in certain situations and the damage he can apply. I really second guess myself alot and don't commit and then realize I am on the other side of the ring with a broken tail bone and half my life left, lol. Your use for 3+k at mid range is nice and your use of screw hook/lariat are top notch. It's great to have you in the sessions, because your character forces everyone to really pay attention to teg,ateg,eteg situations and in return boosts everyone's defense abilities which imho is what we all really need. Your eye for 2+p is unfrackingbeliveable and with that I would award you with the title of america's shinning wizard master, don't ever 2+p! If anyone reading this ever comes across emx in match don't ever 2+p, holy shit or he will hand you all your central-lateral incisors,cainine(eyetooth),bicuspids, and molars.
