My thoughts exactly. Even with the roughness, it looks great to me.

The potential looks great, like the fluid two-in-ones and different animations for each level of super move.

If that's going to be the Chun LI's background music though...thank goodness for the X360 media player!

The gameplay looks a lot like this game I once saw at the arcade using the exact same style. It was just labeled new game but it had some chick with a wooden sword and she was tearing down the house. When I saw it I knew capcom needed to go the same route with SF4 I'm glad we were on the same page.

If you're worried about the music here's the vid from 1up with the original soundtrack backing. It's actually the 1up interview also where they explain the gameplay elements.

I'm still not sure what to think of this. It looked like it played a lot better than I thought it would and the effects and facial animation were pretty impressive.

Did I see Ryu do a super combo cancel? They are new.

Looks sweet! Too bad about the video edit and choice of music though...

This video has me pumped for the game, to bad we might have to wait a year or so to play the game. The music didn't bother me that much, in fact I thought it kind of funny when Chun Li broke into her laugh! I thought we might be spoiled with VF5 EVO footage according to what Brisal said, but we can wait for that or not.

I liked the expression of pain in the moves and the Super moves that were done or overdrive or whatever they are called!

There is a bunch on movies from gameplay recorded on cam from GDC 08 on http://www.gametrailers.com.
As usual you can view them in HD so you can clearly see what's goin' on.
Check them out. The animation looks amazing and I simply can't wait to play the game /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

The vids look very good and holds true to the tradition of the original SF games before it. I would really like see the other new characters in the game aside from the few we know of now.

It's tough to watch people playing so badly lol. But the game looks to be running pretty smoothly, I'm eager to get my hands on it.

Graphically, I think they've done a superb job at recreating that old-school SF "feeling". The look, art and animaton really impresses me. I can't help but feel nostalgic!

However, I'm not a fan of the new character designs. They seem to go against the old-school grain, and don't harmonise with the existing cast that well. This is just my personal opinion.

Ultimately, my real issue though is with the gameplay. No matter how I try, I just can't get excited over SF gameplay, and probably 2D gameplay in general.

Maybe watching uninspired bootleg footage along with my VF (3D) bias is partly to blame, so I'll withold my final judgement until I actually play it. But until then, I have to say that I'm less interested in SF4 now than I was initially.

that guile player was good but everyone else was so bad it was making me angry. I want to see the characters showing their true potential!

I'd say you have something there except VF isn't and never has been 3D excepting stages and characters (bear with me). The game continually resets along a linear, 2D plane. Aside from the fact that you get to see different angles of a VF ring I don't see how that's much different from SF.

Some simplification here on my part but...you know what I mean?

    Yes and no.

IMHO, the elements of evading, ARM, and ring positioning make VF more 3D than 2D. The wall or fence to the side of you, whether perpendicular or a specific angle (stomach, back) are unmistakingly 3D gameplay elements.

Anyway, I'm digressing and I don't want to derail this thread! I accept VF isn't true 3D in that you can't just move and face anywhere at will, but that's not really the gist of what I was getting at.

Bottom line for me is that seeing the same old fireball trap in the corner, the same x-plane vs y-plane strats, some 15+ years on with new meter(s) just doesn't do it for me anymore.

yeah, like I said...I was oversimplifying a few things but you got it.

I do wish that they had come up with a fix of the Invisible Wall.
