I can't seem to rank up. I love how I get a shitty disconnect and find that have my green bar goes down. I filled my 8th dan bar twice to rim and guess what.....disconnect and its back to the drawing board. LIVE PLEASE STOP MAKING MY VF TIME A HASSLE!

Me and Blahzie have been deomting each other left and right. When I was a tenth dan we both fought for master. he won then I kept playin him even though I was about to be demoted to 9th. (I'm stubborn like that) The match was a weird ranking match. Both of us had Demotion if you lose promotion if you win. this was a stressful match which I won. I was a master. however I had no bar at all. i fought blahzie and he took the master victory. now he's back to 9th I think. Oh haw we stuggle. I later demoted him in our battles and he went and got his revenge demoting me. I LOVE VF!!! LOL what a great game!

LMAO Those were some of the greatest battles I've ever had playing VF! I think this is why I prefer ranked matches... finding someone you're evenly matched with makes every round a stressful experience, and always produces some absolutely brilliant moments. The intensity is just amazing... now if we can just put it all together, bro, we'd be unstoppable! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

My last match against Naudin was good but some strange reason once I get ranked 7th dan I can't win a match to save my life even if I beat the person before and they aren't doing anything I haven't seen before. Now I am a 6th dan and falling fast again. The last time I got 7th dan I fell all the way to 4th dan before I finally woke up and started to win again. I even switched to my Vanessa for a while and it doesn't seem to change anything. I am starting to think that I am cursed to stay where I am at about 6th dan forever, like you guys struggle to hold the master ranking once you get it and you guys lose to a 10th dan person and so on.

9th dan was like hitting a brick wall i fell back to 8th dan yesterday i guess its just shows that i stink and need to find ways to improve on the fundamentals

My wall so far seems to be eigth, I snuck into 7th expected to fall right back to 6th, but surprise i rose to 8th and stayed there for 2 glorious weeks (damn you vf5395) before being demoted, then, in a great show of bush league i fell to 6th last night but instantly vaulted back up. I think 7th/8th is just where i'm at. So at least your 8th/9th there vf. But i don't know about you guys, part of my problem is that when i'm playing bad and dropping, i get really stubborn and start looking for like ranked charactars to fight, so then i lose my ranking.

what do you mean by too selective of your attacks? I will say this, last night that first fight we had you brought the entire arsenal, than the more we played the more you settled into the same'ol same'ol (which is still really good for you) is that what you mean? EX) first match you hit me with a number of good forward forward Kick+punch swiping sweep punch type move, than you never broke it out again.

i think you guys are applying your focus in the wrong area. I know it happened to me recently. Try focusing on controlling the flow of the match which will in the end get you the win. What's the point of putting all your concern into ranking up if you aren't controlling a potential win. Trust me I recently did this about a month ago where I was just so focused on moving to the next rank that it back fired. I was losing left and right to people that I could probably beat with one hand. Why? Well for one I was being extremely selective of which move(s) I wanted to use and I was just waiting to much. Since I was waiting so much and only using like 4-6 moves I became highly predictable and at the point it didn't matter what I did, because they could read me like a book and retaliate properly. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif VF is a strange game! It's best to be relaxed and just play your game and try to win. Win = Higher Ranks... High Ranking doesn't necessarily = more wins. There are tons of 10th+ who have just as much losses as wins. To me that sounds more like they have the nice rank, but they are struggling to win. You guys don't sound like that's where you want to be even after you rank to 10th or higher. I guess the choice is yours in terms of what's more important. More wins for higher ranks or higher ranks with a whole lot of frustration?

All of that is 100% true. Most of us struggling die-hards already have the experience with our character necessary to win. I've found that I lose when I'm over-thinking my moves and responses, or when I focus too much on trying to land one move or another. I end up second-guessing myself or missing chances at advantage.

Things become easier when I relax and just rely on my instincts and experience. I've already seen pretty much everything (except for the few times I play crazy-ass JHow /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif ), so very little can surprise me anymore... I don't have to think and be on edge so much all the time.

Not to mention that when I do relax and just have fun, I really start to see where the flaws in my fundamentals are. For me, now it's just a matter of breaking bad habits and implementing a few basics. I wonder sometimes whether it would be better to just learn a new character, cuz breaking your bad habits is really tough when you've played so many games with the same couple characters...

Maybe I'll learn Lau... or 9k,k spam with Pai...

thanks konjou and blazie for the advice focus on winning, controlling the flow of the match and relax rather than thinking about ranking too much whether its promotion or demotion Besides its all about having fun /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

    I hear you Blazhie,
Half the times I lose i look back it afterwards and say,....why did i lose, and the answer is usually i got the entire round handed to me b/c i was bound and determined to do move X. Why i get so stubborn i don't know, obviously it wasn't even a good move for the situation or it would have worked the first time rather than been thwarted 15 times.......darn you sarah, lol
