Just got word that Final Tuned has arrived in Sydney, Playtime arcade.

I'll be going down tonight after work with some friends to check it out. Anyone reading this and in the area is welcomed to join in!

I have no idea what the setup is like (card support, vf.net) but I'm not holding my breath. I'm just glad that FT is finally here!

    ikuzo!

Anyway, I just got back from Playtime. Unfortunately, the machine wasn't on and we're told it won't be ready until next week.

    But........

    *drum roll*

    it has a card reader!

They've got it in a versus city cab, and the FT placard was on there with the new moves for the characters, all written in English.

I'll post back when I can confirm it's up and running.

    [6][2][3][P]+[K][P][P][K] is my new mantra....

It's bad enough Myke got FT but it also has a cardreader. First those damn Canadians now this freaking Aussie is getting FT pussy. I'm going to go postal if NYC doesn't get it soon. /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif

hold on a minute.. an FT placard with the moves in ENGLISH? was this an official sega thing or something your arcade did? because if it was an official thing, it must surely mean that this is a western version of FT. this is interesting not just because it might mean arcades here in london will get it, but also that it has a card reader.. as far as i can tell, the western version of evo didn't include the options for cards.
    interesting!

Yes it's official. For each character they list whether it's a "High Attack", "Mid Attack", "Low Attack" or "Throw" and the move name is in English. For the Japanese move names, so Kage's TFT appears as: Koenraku [6][3][2][1][4][P]+[G].

    Myke,

I am glad that u guys finally get FT there, and I guess you will be playing the challenge mode like mad.....to get the coin items like what i am doing in HK now. Just to let you know: without VF,net u can still rank upto 10th dan. And possible to get those wooden box items (e.g. braek more than n walls in a vs game), and coin items from the challenge mode( e.g. u will get either a coin or fight money after completed the challenge mode, it's random but u will need 4 coins to get an item.)

As for naming ur character, u need a VF.net account. u can do it though internet but then u still need to bring ur access card to japan and let it connected to the vf-net there.

I look forward to play all of u guys soon, tell me when u guys going to Japan or coming to HK ok?

There's a good reason for this. Final Tuned requires for an upgraded DIMM memory on the Naomi2 board. This memory upgrade only works on certain versions of the DIMM Firmware. What it comes down to is that there are a few different types of DIMM boards for Naomi and Naomi2. Only one of these types is capable of wiring up card readers and having a connection to VF.net - a Network System DIMM board. Now, the catch is that the DIMM Firmware Upgrade only works on Network System DIMM boards. The typical non-network DIMM boards, i.e. those found on Western Evo kits, are not upgradable for FT. This is why FT has appeared in Sydney with card readers - Playtime acquired the appropriate kit and must've figured the card readers were worth it. You can run FT without cards obviously - hence the machine we have in Toronto - but you still need the special DIMM board in order to successfully upgrade the DIMM board firmware for FT.

Also, our Japanese kit in Toronto has english writing in many places on the movelist placards. Don't hold your breath that there's a western version - in fact, according to Canada's Sega distributor, they've never heard of such a thing.

played some FT today and checked out our placards closely. Aside from where you would expect english (punch, guard, Kick, VFNET) it is all kanji/katakana. Seems like Myke's placard is completely different.

I wonder if yours is Japanese or just Asian.

    That's great!

Now all we need is people with the good sense to realise the UK is desparate for this sort of thing and ship over cabs to all the major arcades over here.

Come on, surely someone influential must be reading this?

LM_Akira, you can't sit back and hope for someone to come to the rescue. The best thing you can do is talk to your local arcade manager and put the case to him/her. That's probably the only thing you can do realistically without buying the thing yourself.

It goes without saying that your case would carry a lot of weight if (a) you're on good terms with your arcade manager, and (b) you frequent the arcade.

    Anyway, good luck /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hmm yeah cheers, that's exactly what I need to do. Quite a few have already tried to get involved to get FT down in London here:

    http://virtuafighter.com/versuscity/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=115043&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

Problem is, the main arcade in Manchester has very little new stuff in it at all...worse still, when I went to buy SC2 a while back in the local game shop, I told the guy I was a VF player...and he asked me what that was!!! /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif (this is after he'd told me SC2 to be the best fighting game ever...yeah, not quite in my eyes /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif).

SlimAdey actually knows the owner of the main arcade well though. I think it's time we both put on our pinstripe suits and had a word in their ear.

    FT in Jenny's

I would LOVE Jenny's to get FT, but they had the ORIGINAL VF4 and it lasted ONE week, so it's probably best we don't hold our breath.

However, there is a silver lining in our cloud, in that Namco Station at the Trafford Centre MIGHT get FT at the same time as Tekken 5.

    Let's keep our finger's crossed.
