I am looking forward to play DOA5

If its shit, then I can rest in peace, it was not Itagaki being stubborn, its just DOA being DOA.

If DOA5 finally plays decently, then yes, lets have VF vs DOA

If not, forget about it. DOA can do a vs with tekken/Capcom/SC

I would honestly purchase it for the sake of supporting Sega and just to try it out. I would be fine with it as long as it isn't reversal dependent like DOA usually is.

Oh and it should use VF's fighting system of course.

I kind of think they should have the option to use "holds" aka reversals, just to appeal to the hardcore DOA fans. It shouldn't be mandatory, the holds unless it is a part of a characters fighting style

Oh and the multi-tiered stages, they should enable a "ring out" option, to keep it more VF-esque, and when it is not enabled, u can go out of the 'initial' stages' boundaries and go for a more DOA-esque fighting experience.

I agree. I always liked the out of stage boundary game play in DOA and kind of reminds me of VF3's abstract stages. If this crossover ever does happen, VF3 stages would be a great thing to implement.

I'd be interested in it... I'd like to see a tag system that's similar to DOA... Keep the tiered stages, but make the walls vary... Allow for ring outs, and keep the movement/system of VF... DOA should have the ability to hold using the VF system for reversals (b+P+K for example)...

Maybe DOA's "flashiness" might help boost the sales... Not everybody likes sweaty splashes for counter hit effects...

As in they might prefer fighting games with no hit effects? I don't remember there ever being any in the DoA games.

OUT! OUT! DEMON!!! (makes a cross with his two index fingers) I cast you out in the name of Jesus. The power of Christ compels you to leave. Omnibus, heemnibus Ugetonthebus and take that crap out of here.

You want to take the single worst feature in DOA and use it to taint VF. BEGONE!!!!

If they did such a cross over, I would have no problem with the DOA level design prior to DOA4. For some reason, the levels of DOA4 got really boring and plain. But I would take the levels of DOA3 or DOA Ultimate.

However, in no way, shape, form, or fashion is that DOA All-powerful-catches-all-attack-classes-even-from-a-30-frame-disadvantage reversal acceptable.

You don't need hit effects when you have fucking electrified floors and walls plus explosions that make Michael Bay jealous... They beefed the hell out of it in DOA5, too, so you know if they did do a DOA vs VF, the shit'll look like this if you got counter hit with a standing jab:

Then you'll fly through a bunch of random shit, and continue the fight in front of a random statue...

The character match-ups would be pretty crazy. Kage vs Ryu/Hayate Brad vs Zack Bass vs Wolf. And i'll finally be able to kick shun's out of a window.

I feel like that's mixing a good thing with a bad thing, resulting in something mediocre that wouldn't be as good as VF6. I just don't think VF needs a DOA cross-over, of all the possibilities out there, it doesn't really help Sega/AM2, just Team Ninja. I just don't see how Sega needs to do that. If they do a really good job on the console port of VF5:FS (things like a top-notch netcode, boku amount of items - all of them, and a solid training mode), I think they'll position themselves quite nicely to regain a BUNCH of momentum for the series.

Obviously something like Tekken X VF would be explosively, epically huge, but could it ever live up to inevitable hype and craziness that would surround it all through development.? Who knows...

It's weird, but SF X Tekken has been upcoming for so long, it feels a little surreal that it's actually coming out on the 6th of March. It's just one of those games that's been in development for at least 2 years and has been followed by the gaming press the entire time. The situation surrounding the game put it in a state of endless development in my mind, so now I can't believe it's almost here.

I wonder if we'll ever see Tekken X SF, that's been in development for 2 years as well and I haven't seen much about it at all.

Don't be snobs guys. DOA is a good franchise, VF is a good franchise.

For me, it's more like Itagaki was a huge dumbass about promoting DoA in the past. Team Ninja even now, without him, makes exceedingly bold claims about a series of games designed around fan service and accessibility to a fault. It might be integrated with VF well or not, that's not important, but Team Ninja gets a vote of no confidence from me as game devs and people who overstate the importance of their games. They remind me of Bethsoft's PR going around during Oblivion and Skyrim but even more substance-free sometimes.

Meanwhile AM2 toils in near-obscurity outside Japan and parts of Asia -- partly out of modesty I'd assume and partly out of Sega's inability to deal with the public outside Japan. That really sucks! So yeah there is a degree of sour grapes at play as well.

I have no problem with DoA as an entertainment product per se but there's a series of youtube videos that elucidates a lot of the drama around that community.

I agree with what you say to a certain degree. I just want to add this.

That commercial made me lose any interest I had in the series. I don't care how good your product is if that is how you are selling it to me.

Also, I don't know why but your avatar really freaks me out. And its everywhere since you've been posting like crazy lately.

This could actually be decent. DOA is, after all, just a dumbed down Virtua Fighter. It doesn't have the nutty stuff like Tekken where a robot shoots a laser out of his wiener or whatever.

If they added evades and holds (reversals) for every character that required better timing and didn't do as much damage (or just give advantage like many of the holds in DOA 1), it could actually be okay, maybe. The tiered stages are sort of cool. It might be fun to use Jeff's 1p+g throw to toss someone off of a volcano or some shit.

The community for the game would probably be pretty lame. It seems like the average DOA guy is sort of like the dumbest and most aggressive members of the VF community.

DOA is a good franchise and I'm looking forward to DOA5. It's gonna be hard, but I'm gonna try and get some of the DOA guys to play VF and vice versa.

Although the rules are slightly different you can play DOA like it's VF, unfortunately I can't say that translates well the other way around.

This summer is gonna be a great year for 3D fighters. Sadly I'm not looking forward to TTT2 because I just don't understand Tekken. If I did I'd probably play it on a casual level.

I do think this could work, to suit both sides the game could have a similar system to Capcom vs SNK where you select your preferred style before the match?

VF style, DOA style, and maybe a few variants?

Maybe each company could do their own version of the game like Namco and Capcom are doing?
