Thanks for having me there, AdamYUKI. It was a great experience for me. I definitely appreciate it. I'm gonna be there the next time NYG happens again.

To all who were there: It was great seeing/fighting with you. I learned a lot from all of you.

Thanks to Adnan for being a great host, Andy for all tech setups, and Owen for getting the tourney started. Too bad, I didn't play everyone there because I went there on Saturday. For the one I did play against, thanks for the great competition. I learned a lot from everyone. For the one I didn't get a chance to play against, I'll get you guys next time, that I can promise.

I'll see everyone online and look forward to playing against everyone next time. Like NinjinSan said people couldn't come should try again next time. I was looking forward to meet Kbcat, Segaduck, and others.

Nycat: I was hoping to see again.

Shaq: next year right? You have to meet Shang, StompOutLoud, and IMF.

    KFS: we'll practice more.

Yes, many thanks go out to Adnan and Andy for putting together a great gathering. My first big gathering as the Frolic was invite only, and I had a blast. It was unfortunate that I had to go and be sick for the first few days of competition and as a result only managed to play about half as much as I would have liked. For that I must apologize, because I only ended up playing most people a mere handful of times. Sorry guys.

NYG gave me the chance to meet so many new people, along with seeing some familiar faces from NYF. I was also pleasantly surprised by the large number of fresh players just starting to sink their teeth into the game of VF. Quite inspiring.

Adam: Aka Maverick, you're dangerous. He's Completely unpredictable -- nothing
by the book. All over the..................................road /versus/images/icons/blush.gif Just kidding dog /versus/images/icons/wink.gif

Andy: Aka Goose, we didn't really get to say goodbye this time. We did have some good matches though, I hope people were able to capture enough of their fights for the DVD.

So many people to mention that I'm overwhelmed at the moment. I'll have to make more of a report later. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif

Thanks to everyone who showed up and brought their VF spirit. Good show.

Thanks Adnan and Andy for hosting the gathering and reserving the conference room. And thanks Llanfair for your role in organizing the tourney. I had a really good time over the past weekend, meeting and playing new people, seeing familiar faces again, and finally meeting people I had "talked" to online. As usual, the long trip was worth it.

Props to Adnan's dad for being a gracious host and a nice person. /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

Congrats to Blonde_One for winning the "Slo-mo homo" tourney. /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

Props to the Orlando crew for making a really good showing at the tourney. These three were really hyped about making the trip to NY, and they put in a lot of time for practice and sessioning against each other. They seemed so confident and relaxed, while I was really nervous over the first few days. I'm really impressed with their dedication to the game. /versus/images/icons/grin.gif And props to IMF's mom for the hospitality.

Well that's it. Again, I had a great time, and I hope you people do this again soon. Gotta go now. Things to do, posts to read /versus/images/icons/blush.gif , clips to download, and sleep to catch up on. /versus/images/icons/confused.gif

Hey guys, thought I would write a report since in real life I am a chatter box as well. But first off, thanks to Adnan and Andy for the great hospitality. Your key is on the way. Imf and I both got sick and it dampened our chances to play more than we needed. I skipped the last day because I just wanted to rest and watch football. What a great first week of football btw. PM me if you want to chat about football. :)

Adamyuki: Although I didn't get a chance to play him because of situations, I did watch him play alot. I learned a lot about his defensive style and it is something that I would like to adapt in my Lion and a few other characters. (possibly Aoi) But nonetheless, it was cool how he wore that super man shirt. You should have kept it on and you would have won the tourney. But you had to switch. lol.

Andy: I played this guy the most from the crew in ny. I must say, everyone's description of his aggressiveness of Lau was totally true. I think Andy does have to thank me for sparking his motivation and concentration for I beat him three straight times and pissed him off. That woke him up and then he beat me a good 5 times in a row. So Andy, I think you owe me a thanks for your second place in the tourney. Otherwise, you would have been knocked out in the first round. lol. just kidding. It's all good. Your shun is really good. Since you said it was mostly borrowed from Ghettoshun's game, I would say that I got a chance to play Nelson as well. So that was cool. Learned a lot.

Hiro: I got to play him a few times but watched him play a lot. He just controls the game like no other. I really enjoy how he plays with such ease and offers all kinds of advice to everyone and wins and loses with honor. Very big of you hiro. Next time we will play more.

Akira-zero: I think you had some of the best pad skills in the world. Hitting me with dlc, and spods on a pad while I am trying desperately to attack you with SArah. We had some tough Sarah versus Akira matches. Once you get some yomi layers down, you will be unstoppable.

Shou-sama: you and hiro's vanessa has inspired me to start learning how to use her. Thanks for the nice matches. Your Akira is very strong as well. I will probably pm you soon on converting my dc stick to the ps2.

Mike1232323456566777877777 uuddlrlrbaba start... what kind of a sn is that mike? lol. Just kidding. But yeah, enjoyed playing against you with Jacky versus Pai. I didn't think my Pai was going to give your wolf a hard time but it did. But maybe that was my pad luck huh?

Llanfair: wow, I enjoyed playing against you pai versus pai. I was thinking it was only me who used her. But it was cool all the moves and tactics you showed me. Nice joystick too. Very impressive.

Hyun: I think my Shun gave you a hard time for what one match? lol. Your kage is very elusive and mobile. I also enjoyed our Pai versus Jeffery matches.

jerky: Damn, your Jacky kept hitting me with that d+p+k kick combo. Very nice. I will have to put that in my game.

Shang: I only got to play you a few times. I like you Akira. Very nice.

Anon: Damn, we represented with our pads huh? :) I saw a maturation of your Kage from day one to the last day I was there. Very impressive. Can't wait to play you again.

Ghostdog: lol.. what can I say.. I am glad you were able to make it. If you ever want to come down to central florida for a gathering and the only thing stopping you is gas money, let me know. I will be more than happy to fund it for you. I am glad my shun made you laugh.

Congrats to everyone on team hydra. They represented Florida very well and played with such style and energy. I only wish I could have been there longer. Oh well, I got to see Dave Letterman's show live and the Bon Jovi concert. So I can't complain. Later guys. All the people I forgot, sorry, I just need to get some rest.

PS http://photos.yahoo.com/youreunderarrest go under the gatherings folder for some of the nyg3 pics. If any of you don't want thier mug on my page, just pm me and I will take them off.

Well I'm back from NYG and am extremely inspired to play even MORE VF than EVER!! NYG brought many new faces to the scene that I can't wait to mention later on in my report.

Well the weekend before NYG all of us florida guys slammed VF for the big gathering to get "lethal" again. Me coming down with Spinal Meningitis didn't help our practice sessions at all. So we didn't play for about 2 weeks right before the gathering. Ghostdog ended up coming on tuesday night before we left to get in some good rounds before our flight the next day. I think that night none of us slept due to excitement. Waking up and the actual flight there happened in no time, before we knew it we were at Ad's place hitting up Andy and Rodney for some warm up games before everyone got there. The games were intense and they gave us the wake up call that we weren't playing just anyone, these were NYC guys =). As it got later we all got extremely tired due to lack of sleep the night before. Unfortunately, adams floor didn't help sleep for the next day so Thursday was a blur for me and probably a few other guys as well. Thursday we ended up getting to the hotel and unpacking and settling into our rooms. It didn't take long for all the occupied rooms to be filled with drooling VF players and everyone was switching between rooms to feel out the competition and get a taste of peoples play. I think the majority of the time everyone played five matches no matter what the outcome was, which was cool =). Later thursday night all of the rooms decided to move the VF play to the meeting room. As some of the weaker individuals went to sleep, only the hardcore stayed up til dawn playing the game that brought us all together. Friday was the first day that IMF was feeling better and Team Hydra or Orlando Crew was pleased to see it, our buddy wasn't having fun and wasn't playing well at all. It was probably like a worste nightmare or something, where you plan for something for so long and now you get there and your sick, I felt bad for my friend. Now it was FRIDAY!! People showed up on Friday from Tennessee(Ninjinsan), Toronto(Llanfair), Virginia(Creedo) and Boston(Shang,Hyun, Jerky,Hiro). It was a great day for VF, and probably IMO the best day of the gathering. As Saturday rolled around everyone was pretty much warmed up and ready to get the events started. Llanfair was extremely knowledgable in the way a tournament should be run and helped out immensely. He also managed to become a honorary Orlando guy, way to go Llanfair!! As the round robin went smoothly everyone got to see some great matches, hopefully some were captured or saved for the DVD. The round robin took longer than expected even with four setups running pool A and B. By the time we finished eating it was well into the night probably around 11 or so and as the tourney continued we had started to record the matches onto the DVD. Here is where the controversy started. A couple of us noticed that the matches were extremely slow and some of us were missing simple things that we knew we never missed. So someone finally says "I think the game is running slow"(IMF) and a few of us agreed, I won the tourney and thought it was a bit off myself. I don't miss Iageri kick EVER, and I missed a few during the recorded matches. After the winners bracket was finished, the losers bracket figured it was time to "JUST PLAY" so we all happily went back to playing each other like before. Sunday was a blur also, we all left early and the ones that stayed went to Ad's place. Well, when I say early I mean we left at 4 which was early due to the fact most of us woke up after 2 pm cause of the night before =). Ad's place was extremely fun once we got there, when I say we it was only a handful of us. Me, IMF, Jedi, ghostdog, Llanfair, Mike92123, and of course AdamYuki played some random senseless matches by drawing from a bag a character and playing one match with a person. IMF was first to draw and also managed to pick Akira for his first draw, LOL. We all quickly decided that we'd draw after each match and the winner then could stay on to fight the rest of the room, good thinking Llan =). After everything was finished and the four of us got on the plane we all were sad to see it end and feel the dread of going back to the grind, but we all had seemingly silent smiles the whole way back to Florida, hopefully everyone got that feeling going home.

Now to break out the "FUN PART".

Hiro- I wish we got to play more =(, I hope we didn't let you down for competition and I am really looking forward to seeing you again and getting those 30 or so matches with you I promised =).

Adam- Thank you for "Everything", you are such a "Tough" opponent to fight. I almost want to move to NYC just to play you cause your just so tough to win against. Great games!!

CrewNYC(Andy)- I got some good matches in with you, you are still a tough opponent and hopefully our matches gave you some good ideas on defensive strategy.

Omaha(Rodney)- The matches I got with you were great, I hope that you continue to play, progress and stay a positive enfluence in the VF scene. Nice Jeffrey TS punch setups =).

Shang- =( I swear it truly sucks I didn't get to play you. Every time I went over to play you there were 4 or more people in line and then Hiro was on the other screen with only a waiting time of 2. Then you weren't there for much of the time, I am sorry I didn't get to play you. Next time =).

Hyun- I played you in the room for a few matches and got a good dose of a seasoned Jeffrey. You play Jeffrey differently than most and I loved playing against you, it was fun.

Jerky- OMG another Jacky player!! We bonded, had great games, shared some info. Sported the coolest character in the game. I look forward to seeing you next time dude, great games!

Anonimuss- I loved watching you play, finding out you were a tekken player really made me feel good. Your Kage is going to be fierce, especially with your "RUSH DOWN" skills. I swear when I'd lose a round, I'd lose in like 10 seconds. Great games anonimuss!

KungfuSmurf- I am glad that you decided to come to NYG and get a taste of VF competitively. Taking on the challenge of mastering Akira is a challenge I think you can accomplish with your positive outlook and hopefully a "STICK"!! =P good games Kungfu =).

AkiraZero- I watched your pad skillz and was very impressed by what you could do move wise. Now all we need to do is get you Akira players a "STICK" and a sparring partner =).

NinjinSan- Where did this guy come from? Maybe they breed Vf players in Tennessee somewhere? But from what I saw him doing and for how long he had been playing the game and on a arcade stick even, I expect Ninjin to be up at the top next gathering without a doubt. Not to mention this guy was hardcore enough to make the flight for only "ONE" day. Very hardcore Ninjinsan, great games!

Mike92123- You by far suprised me the most and hope that you got a good taste of VF competition at the NYG3. I hope to see you at the next gathering soon. I literally watched this guy get better right before my eyes. By the end of the gathering he was one of the best players and well respected, GREAT games.

Llanfair- Alright, Llanfair is probably one of the coolest guys I've ever met. He really made us florida guys aware of just how deep VF goes. Llanfair your play was excellent and your stories unforgettable. He took me out hardcore in my Round Robin, just absolutely blitzed me with pai. We had unforgettable games and most of all laughs. I really look forward to making a Toronto trip soon. GO CANADA!!

Hammerhead- I'm sorry once again I didn't get to play you but everytime I looked around you seemed to be extremely focused on the matches. Hopefully you will come to another gathering so we can play some games.

Florida guys- Your my team, stomp, ghostdog, jedi-fei, and IMF. Let's continue to burn for VF competition!! Yippie!!

TITZ GUYS- What can I say......................"You smelled like beer"? =) good show guys.

    NYG memories:

    1) Jedi_Fei

    2) Top gun lines from adamyuki, hilarious.

    3) "The game ran slow"(Jedi-Fei)................rolls the window up on Llanfair.

    4) Losing my wallet(LIFE), and still thinking god lets play more VF, screw the wallet.

    5) Meeting Creed, and appreciating him bringing some female hotness with him, "WHO WAS THAT"?

    6) Talking with new guys and me not being an "ACTUAL" new guy.

    7) Llanfair explaining how he got his name.

    8) Shun(blondie) vs Lei Fei(Adam).....................too funny to watch.

    9) Hiro whistling during our first matches...............=).

    10) Being packed into a room with some of the best vf players in the US!

    Later guys.

Well, I suppose I should get off my ass and report.

My trip started on the Friday afternoon in Toronto when I was having nervous thoughts about how the hell I was going to get my stick on the flight. Being an almost fully custom stick, it looks a bomb with wires and shit. I was certain that airport security was going to give me a hard time. Nonetheless, I brought a PS2 pad to help support my argument that it was indeed a joystick for a game. They flipped it around, poked and prodded and finally let me go.

I flew into JFK, hopped a cab to Jamaica Station and barely caught a train out to where the gathering was on Long Island. Adam, Andy (CrewNYC), and Shou picked me up at the station. I had met the NYC boys before and it was nice to finally meet Shousama. We headed back to the hotel where I found a bunch of people bashing it out on a couple large screens in a nice conference room. Excellent setup.

I was quickly introduced to the Florida crew, and sat down for a match against Blonde_One. I hadn't played in two weeks and got completely totalled by his Jacky. "Whoa" I thought, "This is nothing like those videos of him online...". I took a while, and a lot of hurtful beatings to get warmed up but by the end of the gathering my % wins settled at around 58%...not too shabby and it seemed a lot of us were at around that stage: Shou, Mike, Anon, Jedi, Creed, Hyun etc. Blonde One and IMF had higher wins as did Andy, Adam, Shang and Omaha. Hiro used his ordinary characters - still don't quite understand why - so his stats weren't related to the gathering...but he won a whole lot anyway /versus/images/icons/smile.gif The Friday evening VFing for me ended at around 5am and I headed off to bed while others still played on. Ahh, nothing like a VF gathering.

Saturday morning, Shang had arrived with Hyun and it was good to meet them again - it had been a long time since I had played them at VF3 in Boston. I proceeded to whip out my Pai only to discover that my file was corrupted. Bummer. I created another one and restarted at 10th Kyu. No biggie, but I would've liked to have had my night's worth of wins back /versus/images/icons/smile.gif
Around 4 or so, we decided to start the tournament - standard Toronto style with an Ironman RR and Double elimination. With 24 people or so, we randomly selected two groups of 12 for the RR and ranked everyone afterwards from their win %. Chattin with Blonde One, who was dominating Pool A (my Pool) along with Adam, I had told him that I had never seen anyone go through a RR with a perfect record. He was determined to do it and at that point had a flawless record. I watched Blonde One beat Adam and when it was my turn to play him, I reminded him that it doesn't happen - that elusive perfect record. Well, I won our match and wrecked his chances - haha! My revenge for him schooling me the night before. Unfortunately, the tournament went haywire with the thought of the DVDR slowing the game down, etc. Blonde One played awesome and did win the winners bracket before we shut the tourney down. For the record, I'm still holding strong to the fact that missed iais, DLCs, pounces, etc were all part of tournament jitters and nerves. I've seen it before, felt it myself - tournaments make you nervous and little things happen. It wasn't the DVDR. Anyway, I think everyone had fun in the Round Robin and I appreciate the NYC boys for letting me help out and run the tourney. Also, huge thanks to Jedi for being my enforcer when things needed to be said. Tourneys only run smoothly when the players cooperate and NYG3 ran as smooth as I wanted it to. Good show!

Now, I think I played everybody. And everyone played great, i thought. I really liked fighting against IMF, Blonde One, Jedi, Mike, and especially Shou. Shou, you and I had some of the best matches I thought. We're both style nuts and our matches were always down to the wire. Some of my other memorable matches were against Mike - he's a tough competitor and our matches were always close both ways. Adam and Andy are as strong as ever, as was Omaha and Hiro - the NYC boys came on with solid gameplay and competed hard. To the FLA crew: you guys are the new hotness of VF4, my friends. Honestly, I never thought I would see gameplay so high. A pleasant surprise and it's something that the VF4 community needed - new blood with unreal skills and a thirst for VF like no other. Congrats to all of you, you played your heart out and the practice payed off. You guys are always welcome in Toronto, anytime. Remember that.

Well, as always, I had a blast. I'm revved for more VF over the next little while and more excited than ever for Evo. /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    cheers,

I had a great time and learned a lot from everyone at the NYCG. I'd appreciated everyone's advise and with their support I'm getting a stick, hopefully it will be by the end of this week. Maybe I'll end up playing VF with both a pad and a stick. Thank you again to Adnam and Andy for organizing everything.

Thanks Llanfair for the nice compliments about team florida. Or whatever we are called. I wish I could have come over on sunday. But I had too much fun with the football. Anyways, my hightlights I wanted to mention about nyg3.

Jedi Fei's impersonation of how to play beat mania.

My impersonation on how top dance dance revolution players played.

Andy's funny ass lie about how the video equipment had a huge dent in it. (most people heard that story lol)

    Me and imf getting sick.

Hiro playing with a pad and kicking ass.

Everyone banning Creed for delaying his match with Hiro based on changing his control configuration.

Shou-sama losing to titzpai and almost crying. (just kidding)

Jedi pausing the game and saying, "Fuck this, I am going home, I just got hit with a dlc from a pad player" Done by kungfusmurf.

After flying all those thousands of miles, I still end up playing someone from the florida crew.

Ghostdog laughing at my shun style.

I could go on, but you know what... you guys get the point. Later.
