The Impossible Lau Ponytail

I have a Lau AI that moved through the Dan ranks fairly
swiftly, overnight, and checking on him the next day I found
Lau's ponytail had lengthened to somewhere around eight to
ten feet. As Lau attacked, the ponytail performed whirling halos
about Lau's spinning body, pooled on the ground when he was
at rest. I assumed then that this ponytail was a kind of game
reward...some obscure item for winning % or something. After
shutting down the AI and going into edit, the ponytail was lost.
I could stand to watch that swirling ponytail again, and I'd like
to get it back. I'm just wondering what it was to begin with...

 

I think it has something to do with your win streak. Whenever I rack up about 50+ wins in a row with my Lau, the same thing happens. The longer the win streak, the longer the ponytail....that's my guess.

 

hey, cool, I didn't know they kept this in VF4... it's been around since VF2.

 

Definitely cool; now I'm all cockhard to play Lau again to get
that ponytail back. It may seem retarded but it was an awesome
accessory. I wish there were other such Barbi-doll rewards in the
game...like maybe after 50 wins with Shun his eyebrows would grow
until they were three feet long devil horns or something like that.

 

Can this ponytail can be kept after a loose?

 

Yes, apparently. The only reason I lost mine was because of
messing around with the AI's items and putting a hat on Lau
not realizing the twelve foot pony would disappear. Once you
get it, I guess you can keep it as long as you don't screw around
with Lau's appearance in whatever costume he won it in. The
ponytail is not interchangable between costumes.

 

The last time I had it I was unable to keep it even though I didn't equip anything else. I think it's one of those unique items that you lose once you quit kumite. I doubt it's an item you can keep.

 

Ah. Damn that sucks. But it does explain what happened to
it.

 

Yeah, me and my brother noticed this when we were playing. From what we could tell, every time you win against another lau, your hair grows on notch, I'm not sure exactly how long it gets, we got fed up after about 12, but by then at was already dragging on the ground. However, as soon as you lose, it goes back to normal. and I dont even think it saves it to your character file, so if you exit the game and then start again, I think it goes back to normal.

 

Has anyone ever tested this with other characters? I know once, this was late at night mind you, Shun's beard did appear longer... So either Shun's beard has the same propreties as Lau's hair, or it was a momentary lapse of reason...

Anyways I'll test it out and keep you guys posted.
