El Blaze is tricky and can be very powerful if you use him right. Recently, I have been getting a lot of wins using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif in a lot of situations. It is safe on block and gives you a combo on any hit.

I salivate thinking about /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif when I jump over it and smash my opponent for ~50-60 damage. If you think they are going to do any low attack at all this is the all purpose answer. I used it very effectively against a 10th dan Lion today. I couldn't beat him till I went to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to counter all his low poking and I had more than a fighting chance from there on out.

It is also good from disadvantage as a bail out move as it is hard to clash with a throw. If you're expecting them to look for a throw go to this move to counter it. They will fear a jumping El Blaze if you use this move effectively and it will allow you to use more /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (no attack) to go into back-turn to confuse them and his /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif hit-throw because both moves have a similar animations to /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif but both are more vulnerable to standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif-
One of the best low attacks around, safe on block, good advantage on counter hit. El Blaze has some deadly options from crouching so it puts you in a good position to look for them. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif causes a deadly head crumble that allows for BIG damage (also tricky when you throw it in after a back crouch dash to bait a high whiff) AND /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif_ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif lets you go for a big juggle. Plus blazes Oki game is very good so any time you knock them down you have some advantage. Specifically /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif can jump their rising attack and you will actually be FACING their back because that move normally leaves you in BT, go for a back throw, low or high, be careful. Also, if they learn to block after you hit with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif throws from close will be 0-f coming out of this move.

    Lows from standing...
These can be tricky because they're hard to see coming and tough to defend. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is nice and lets you Rocket Discharge on hit. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif knocks them down and is tougher to tech roll, often giving a small down attack too... Plus the first punch of the string ducks and will avoid high attacks.

Keep El Blaze in close and use his throws and fast attacks. He has short arms so he's not great from mid range (from long range use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif)... When you are attacking you will create a lot of staggers, El Blaze is the stagger MASTER. When you stagger them some of your moves will have counter hit properties including /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to juggle powerfully, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to stomach crumple (low throw maybe? /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif does HUGE damage but can be escaped), /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif will combo automatically and you can dash in and throw. El Blaze has so many moves that stagger it's not even worth listing them all so TAKE ADVANTAGE OF STAGGERS! ...

Play tricky and go for big damage when you can, El Blaze will have many openings to go for some big pain. Throw them around and use his evade attack as much as you want, it is fast, has good range and is an all-around good evade attack and goes into Rocket Discharge on hit, USE HIS EVADE ATTACK!!!

Ask me if you want to know anything else... Play with El Blaze...

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is a great move to counter /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, although it can be predictable very fast and you'll be hit with a standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and become a nice floater for your opponent.

yes, it's useful with mixups and predict your ducking opponent. however, those with fast strings that doesn't need /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to win their game, i.e. lei fei, jacky, akira, pai, any top players using these characters will be hitting you out of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and juggle you.

best not to rely on it, unless you're sure know when to use it.

    flipping El Blaze... flipping side!

i noticed a few Blaze players been questioning about El Blaze side flip using /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.

first of all you can't control you way he flips, it's very random depending on how your opponent rolls.

however, this side flip is guaranteed to flip side when you perform the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif grab, do the flip after this throw will perform a side flip.

flipping neck, too many flipping flip words i used. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is for beating ALL lows (either by hitting them or jumping them), it works as an anti nitaku as it is hard to throw clash and it can get you out of trouble in a disadvantage. It's much less vulnerable to standing punch as his other jumping moves so it can loosen your foe up allowing you to use his more vulnerable jumping attacks.

Obviously one should never do any move over and over with no purpose. This move has a purpose and is very good when you use it at the right time. You say that some characters have strings... uhhh so what? They don't rely on low punch but they do use lows, and to say that Akiras don't use low punch is not true at all. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is a good multi-purpose tool, it's not the one move that is going to guarantee you a win every match but it will improve your win % if you learn to use it effectively in the right situations. Regardless, seldom using this move or not at all as an El Blaze player would be a mistake.

He just looks so damn weird. The Mexicans around here in Dallas don't look like him. Get him the pot belly and the Mariachi suit with the guitar then we'll reevaluate that "new hotness".

I will admit that he does punish me when I go for any low attack. Usually when I think low is the best option, I have to force myself to go with a mid or high just because he always slaps me to the ground with some move I've never seen before. No one plays El Blaze well enough for me to know what to expect yet.

Thanks to you gernburgs, now I know. And knowing is half the battle. GI-JOOOOE!!

i already said "best not to rely on it, unless you're sure know when to use it." obviously its a great move, i'm just stating the fact you can punch out of it. i recently practice with top Akira and Jacky, they are relentless in attacking and i've been hit enough times to know it's a move not to abuse it, which i don't.

thanks for telling me "/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif can beat ALL lows", reeally!?!

what i mean by saying "those with fast strings that doesn't need /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to win their game", i'm saying this as an example that your opponent rely less /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif to win, therefore your opponent attacking percentage is high in standing attacks. meaning they will have more chances to hit and float your /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, especially if they predict if you're going to use this move, and it doesn't hurt to throw a punch out. You mentioned about using it to get you out of trouble in a disadvantage situation, and this is exactly why you must use it with caution.

I played your Blaze and you are a solid player with very good fundamentals. I am not that good but Blaze is the only character I use. He pisses me off with a lot of his short comings. His 8 P+K never hits alot of crouching attacks. It probably works great on 2p though, I started using 3p because I get juggled with 8 P+K. Some people will bait you with 2p and throw a regular P or kick right after and I get caught.

El Blaze has some deadly juggles and powerful crumple combos. You can always make a comeback with Blaze because he can do a lot of damage quickly if you can get your opponent in the right situation. The turning uppercut /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif has long range (deceptively long), floats nicely on counter-hit and it allows you to go for a couple good attacks from back-turn.

From back-turn I pretty much only use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif because the first gives you a stomach crumple on counter and the other is a full-circular sweep the knocks down so it can be very tricky to throw out the sweep (especially because it is hard for your opponent to tell when you are in BT because it looks so muck like his normal stance. Then all of the sudden, BOOM, you're doing different but powerful attacks, it can be very tricky)...

Any time you hit with a low punch you can do some interesting things. You can always stand and throw but you can also go for his moves from crouching which are his two most powerful moves. So from ducking El Blaze is very powerful. Any time they whiff a throw or a high attack they're vulnerable to the shadow hammer /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif head crumple and the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif_ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif rocket knee juggles. El Blaze is fast, powerful and tricky so get in close and do some damage with your tricky setups...

To EVM: if they are baiting you to throw that move and you know it, wait till they stand and throw that high attack and then give them some shadow hammer head crumple and they'll wish they just let you hit their /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif with the jumping hammer... Any time they whiff with a high because you duck under it you have a chance to use one of Blaze's best moves so don't miss your chance...

vf5 is the only game I play/own for ps3. My middle-school age cousins play him almost exclusively because he reminds them of

i've been using it quite often after this throw /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/db.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif . the side flip will give you a good distance between you and your opponent. i tend to side flip and bait their rising attack for a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif attack, or fake roll into a striking /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif floater or throw. however, it's generally good to give a bit of space if you're too close to your opponent, i.e. corner.

Me and YuuKun, enjoy some good El Blaze matches last month. Very different styles. YuuKun up close style is very confusing at times with he's mix up game. While usually my style incorporates the Rocket Discharge alot. Basically, any move that lets me do it, I go for it, even when I have range, I go for it, and go for a drop kick, if it connects, I'll back of with a RD, and mix it up. What I learn from YuuKun is the up close game with Blaze. Because not every stage has borders. El Blaze is a fun character, but he requires alot of work, due to he's very minor close range attacks. Rocket Discharge is YOUR friend.

I played a 10th dan Blaze with a GT like "I am James" or something... He ate me alive with RD into Deja Vu. He mixed it in really well and kept catching me with it. His Blaze is monster.

Yuukun: The side flip there is awesome, great advice. After that throw when you side flip it freezes them up almost every time because it looks so strange. When you flip off to the side they usually just stand there because they have no idea what you are trying to do to them... Great advice my man!!!

I like the way the japanese player used that side flip in the first video on the Blaze vid thread. He side-flipped 2x, then once more which landed right in front of his opponent which he let out a kick on. If you see the vid it's pretty tricky.

gernburgs: nice games last night man! El Blaze mirrors are fun as hell lol ... ur Blaze is nice!

Thanks man! Trying to learn this game as quickly as possible so I can hang with the heavy hitters. Almost switched to Lei Fei due to tier status but Blaze is too much fun.

Just curious, were you able to hear me at all over XBL? I was talking between matches but I doubt you heard me. Not that I was saying anything important.

Never go the Lei Fei Route... Don't do that to yourself, don't go the Vanessa route either...
