Here is some A-Level advice from Joey (BETABOW). If you don't know who is is then you probably haven't played him. You would remember him as one of the better Lau's. Personally - I think he is the best Lau out there right now (at least that I have played). He and Happy Friend continually amaze and piss me off with their Lau-ness.

Forgive me if some of these are 'old news' but if you're just getting into Lau here's some starting points for your sweep game.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif > (ws)/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (stomp)
I love this combo; very easy to do and a horrendous demoralizer. can actually kick a guy out of the ring if you're near enough. LEARN IT!

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (stomp)
When Joey showed me this I called it "Hammer Time". Another sweetie to do if you want to inflict major psych points and good damage.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif (to backturned) > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (sweep) > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (stomp)
I don't know if the stomp is guaranteed but the combo is fairly nice. You're backturned after the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif so your next /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is a sweep.

/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif > /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (stomp)
SERIOUSLY! This should not work but it does. Really ugly damage on counter hit too (about 70 points). Requires patience like any high damage/ effective move. Do it and be prepared for the other person to cry foul. I found this gem after playing with the above moves from Joey.

One thing to note: These all require the opponent to not tech roll.

Addendum: Not very practical, except with lag spikes. (DL porn for maximum damage)

A lot of people don't tech roll all the time. Tech rolling all the time is a bad idea so these combos are good to know.

agreed. as the opp. will have a hard time to techroll, because of the low juggle properties, those are pretty good.

It's less that it is ever difficult to techroll and more b/c someone may prefer to get up w/ a rising kick rather than techrolling, especially if you have been aggressive about attacking techrolls. I definitely don't always techroll depending who I'm fighting. Slide even got mad at me because I wouldn't techroll!

lol he got mad at me because I tech crouched all his shit with 6p+k. But yeah you gotta watch your opponent, if they're gonna sit there and take it like a bitch, then dish that shit out.

The thing here is you can tech roll between every hit of 80% those "combos", not just after 2+K+. So even if the opponent chooses not tech roll at first he can choose to tech roll later, and those moves leave you quite vulnerable unlike Shun's 3P that can be used for the same purpose after a 1KK for ex. Well... if it works for you :p

I'm just saying if you go for any laggy parts of these "combos" I will tech roll and whore you. But what do I know...

I think if you do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif you can hit check before you hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif and you are not really that messed up if you just threw out a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif during the roll. I also think that the opponent can't tech between hits. I think.

IMO there's some merit to doing it without hit checking IF you aren't doing it all the time and it is a little unexpected, because some people will not tech, and then get up to get hit by the 2nd hit /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I haven't played for a while, but one thing that seemed to work nicely for me against certain opponents was:
/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif -> high pounce. I think if they tech you'd stamp on them, so they had to sideroll to avoid the pounce IIRC. Or maybe it's just a lag tactic /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Pretty much all of these is predicated on people not teching or expecting this shit. These aren't combos, so much as they are lulz. But many a round has been won on lulz, so it's not worth dismissing just because it isn't guaranteed.

Now that we've taken this shit online, a lot of people are getting exposure to the game, and a lot of people play this game by the books. If these guys have so much time on their hands to practice pure technical skill, someone like me might just have to resort to dirty tricks to win. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Actually there is. If you do another low kick and the opponent blocks it after TR, you gave up guaranteed counter.

If you do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif and the opponent TR's, you leave yourself backturned in disadvantage especially because it's likely to whiff against someone who TR's.

If someone fails to tech that low sweep normally I'd usually just heavy pounce them. Sometimes I just OM to their head and go for 8KK.

But there's nothing wrong with the tactics posted here. I heard someone on here saying one that if the opponent wants to stay on the ground like a bitch you should treat him like a bitch.

If you are close enough, you can do /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. If they don't tech roll after that, you can /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif to give the combo a little "additonal flavor"

Assuming you need to input /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif for that, does it work on all weight classes? Kinda seems doubtful that it would, maybe lightweights only. I'll try it out later, if I think of it. Pickin ol' man back up anyway.

It works on all weight classes from my experience, but you have to be close when you sweep. Also, it seems easier to pull off against the larger ones.
This may be another example of a combo that is assuming the person was not techrolling. I played Betabow today and he was getting out of it, but Im not sure if it was my input or his techrolling that was doing it. No one else I've played has been able to get out of it so far...so its worth trying---and it looks cool!!

Tech roll will get out of all the low sweep follow ups.

Still, this might be the easiest one to hit confirm yet. If they tech, you whiff a jab. Hell you might even bait a hasty reaction from them, and be in a position to guard and punish certain moves (FUCKING PALM.)

EDIT: Also, when you sweep > 44p, and they tech, do they have to block? Or can they step that? I was doing that the other day against someone that rarely steps (big SF player) and I wasn't sure if it was steppable, or if it had to be blocked if timed right.
