Ok guys, here's a chance to pimp out your favorite albulms of all time... all of these i have problems listening just to individual songs off of, usually i feel like i need to hear the whole thing front to back... Here are a few from me in no particular order:

    (band - albulm name)

Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the Other Side - So many good songs on this one...

Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth - ok there are two Blind Guardian albulms on the list, they both rock... this one is based off of JRR Tolkien's "The Silmarillion" --- it does such a good job of capturing the emotions of the book, and also does a good job of telling certain parts of the story... not to mention the songs are all great... the narration between tracks is great too, namflow and i often quote parts of it to each other when appropriate...

Dream Theater - Images & Words: Dream Theater's first major label release... i really like their newest albulm 6 degrees of inner turblance, but this one has a special place in my heart... maybe cause it was the first one of theirs i heard, or maybe it's the overproduced drums... either way i love it...

Therion - Theli: this is the albulm that got me into metal (well, non-USA metal)... i heard the track "to mega therion" and at first it reminded me of the music to the duel with kefka at the end of FFVI... the albulm is brutal, and has a choir doing lots of the vocals...

Star One - Space Metal: A bunch of songs based off of different sci fi movies that take place in space... I can't say enough about this albulm - killer production, great songwriting and musicians with killer chops... one of the vocalists is even from Russell Allen (Symphony X) from New Jersey! I love driving to this....

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime... this is Queensryche's concept albulm... you really have to listen to it from begining to end... not only is the story badass, but all the songs are great... vocalist geoff tate is incredible... this albulm has no doubt had a part in inspiring dream theater's "scenes from a memory" and shadow gallery's "tyranny"

honorary mention: tori amos's "y kant tori read"... this was her first albulm, before she sold out... it's total 80s rock cheese and i love every second of it... i've listened to it begining to end more times than i'd like to admit...

i love lots of music, and albulms by these and other artists, but i feel like these are le creme de le creme or something... i'm sure i forgot some, but i'm sure Namflow will check in with them... (yea we like all of the same music, and agree which albulms are the best... except he likes scenes from a memory a lot more than i do)

Hmmm I'm terrible at giving my reasons for this kind of thing, so i'll keep it short. All fairly well known stuff, I'm managing to keep my wannabe-indie-tryhard side in check these days.

    Jeff Buckley - Grace
The only real studio album by my favourite artist. Grace is a melting pot of musical influences. As far as I'm converned one of the best vocalists ever.

    The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore
Most people don't like it. I think it's their best album. Intimate lyrics, delicate music and the adore era was Billy's peak as a singer imo.

The Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the infinite sadness
The total opposite of adore, completely over the top in every way. Some people will say this would have made a great one disc album, some people say its bloated. I like to swear and gesture obscenely at those people.

    Alice in chains - unplugged
Fucking spectacular acoustic set from a band that fell apart before it's time.

    Sigur Ros - ( )
The first time I ever heard untitled#4 my reaction was 'wow, jesus holy fuck wow......wow' This album still makes me feel that way everytime I listen to it. Indescribable.

    Tori Amos - Little earthquakes
Not like my opinoin means anything, but I think this is the best album ever made by a female artist.

Crowded House - Recurring Dream (the very best of)
Hmm are anthologies kosher? I've listened to this like a million times and it never gows old. Everytime I hear it I get waves of nostalga.

Yeah I suck at expressing why I like things. Sue me.

Krs One - Krs One. I don't think I've ever started to listen to this album and NOT listened to each song all the way through that same sitting.

Metallica: Master of Puppets - hard hitting with poignet lyrics!

Wu-Tang: 36 chambers - this completely redefined and defined rap both lyrically, beats, etc.

Killah Priest: Heavy Mental. Oh man, can anyone pack more imagery into their lyrics???

Aesop Rock: Labor days. THis shit blew my mind and continues to do so.

Jay-Z: Reasonable Doubt. Listen to this to remember what a hungry genious can sound like.

    How about...

Pet Sounds, all of Dylan's '60s records, Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Hendrix, Miles Davis, Billie Holliday, "The Harder They Come" soundtrack by Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder's '70s albums like "Tal;king Book" and "Innervisions," Johnny Cash, Springsteen, Ramones, The Clash, "Never Mind the Bollacks," Metallica, The Replacements, Husker Du, Prince, Run DMC, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, Nirvana's "Nevermind," Pearl Jam, Soundgarden's "Superunknown," Rage Against the Machine, DJ Shadow, Moby, En Vogue's "Funky Divas," Ani Difranco....

That's prettty much off the top of my head. I'm sure there's a lot more to name if I thought about it for a while. Hope that helps.

Led Zepplin, Led Zepplin II-To anyone who listens to classic rock stations, you probably don't even need to buy the album, err...CD, because you've heard most of them. But still, it's a top-tier album.

Stevie Wonder, Songs in the Key of Life- I think this album was Stevie Wonder at his very best. Everything before sort of built up to this one, and everything since has gone downhill. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just that this album was that good.

Aphex Twin, The Richard D. James Album- This one really got me into electronic music. The songs aren't something that someone would usually move to. Some are fast-paced, a few are slow tempo. Funny in a demented sort of way, with kids singing a song or two, and "Milkman"

Boards of Canada, Music Has the Right to Children- The first time I heard this CD, it had just enough to get me hooked. But the sound grew on me. Nice beats and interesting samples here and there.

Miles Davis, Kind of Blue- Awesome stuff from Miles Davis, especially "So What". It's so beautiful and simple. Four people with instruments. What more could you ask for? /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif

John Coltrane, A Love Supreme- Not many songs on this one. It's hard for me describe, but this is perfect background music for driving, reading, drawing, etc.

Me'Shell N'degeocello, Plantation Lullabies- There are some really nice grooves on this one. Highly recommended for someone who plays the bass guitar. Incredible songwriting, but her voice could be better. She's had some good followup efforts, but this one is the best.

Jill Scott, Who Is Jill Scott- It's probably the last R&B CD I bought. Just about everything on this album impressed me, from the songwriting to the music.

Public Enemy, It Takes a Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back- The difference between this one and Bum Rush the Show is like night and day. I think this set the trend for early 90's rap music, but what do I know /versus/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I too have an eclectic musical taste, but there are few albums that I would consider top tier.

    1. Tone Toni Tony: House of Music. The first album I purchased and didn't feel ripped off because I liked more than 4 songs on it (literally). To this day, it remains one of my favorites. Every track on that album is R&B goodness.

2.Musiq Soulchild: Musiq. I was a fan of his before this album, but this one is spectacular. The only song I don't like is the bonus song (wasn't much of a bonus to me). He is an outstanding song-writer/musician, and has developed my trust so that I'll probably buy his next album without even hearing at least 2 songs (I normally wait until I hear about 3).

    3. Linkin' Park (The title of their first album...forgot it and I'm lazy right now). Most of my friends think that they're way overrated. I think not. Only about two songs on that album that I don't care for. Haven't heard their latest album, but I can't wait to hear some more songs from it (besides Feint). Only one thing; after actually listening to the words of all of their songs...what kind of horrible relationships were these guys in?!? /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

4.VFEvo. I count this as well, since it's the first fighting game in a LONG TIME where I like the whole thing. The other, of course, being...

5.SF2. From WW to ST, even the firs two of the Alpha series, I loved these songs to death.

    Oh, and I almost forgot.
    6. Soundtrack to A Thin Line Between Love and Hate. By far my favorite soundtrack.
