To be held in Tokyo, Japan over 3 days from Friday August 10th to Sunday August 12th, 2007.

I've been in close contact with the Australian 2D fighting game community where it was recently announced that Australia has one spot confirmed in the VF5 team (3on3) tournament.

To any Aussie locals: I will be holding a qualification tournament in Sydney in May to determine who may be eligible for the Aussie team. Note that players will be expected to fund their own travel and accomodation expenses to Japan. So qualification will not only depend on tournament placing, but also your ability to travel.

To everyone else: I'm not sure how other scenes will go about securing an international tournament spot like we did. For the North Americans, I'd imagine SRK are handling most/all SBO communications, so it'd be best to get in touch with them. For the Europeans, and well, the rest of the world, I'm not sure who your contacts might be. Sorry!

Either way, events like these provide a great opportunity for a "gaming holiday" in Tokyo. A bunch of us VFDCers have done this in the past, and I know a large contingent of Aussie fighting gamers plan on going there just for the experience, and not necessarily to compete. There's a long time between now and August, so you might want to think about taking advantage of this opportunity if it suits.
